Re: Track Designer Registry —James Trobaugh
(...) Congrats on the new addition! (...) Sounds good, I haven't heard anything from the people you gave it to so I too assume that they changed their minds on the upgrades. I would like to have a copy to archive and maybe if I get some "spare" time (...) (22 years ago, 12-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Don Heyse
(...) According to this thread, it looks like the source may have gone to Leonardo. (URL) think he still monitors the CAD groups so he might see this. I'm sure this has probably been discussed to death, but why not create a sourceforge account and (...) (22 years ago, 12-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Leonardo Zide
I got the source, started making changes to be able to run it under linux but when I graduated and started working my free time was reduced drastically and I couldn't continue working on it. :( Leonardo (...) (22 years ago, 12-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Matthew Bates
(...) Do you still have the zip file I sent you? That would save me having to redo what I did for you already. And my memory would have been better back then! Matt (22 years ago, 12-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Martin Scragg
It has been a few weeks now since the subject of track designer updates was brought up, has anything come out of it yet? Has anybody heard anything new from Matt about releasing the source code to individuals, sourceforge or whatever? Martin (22 years ago, 7-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Don Heyse
(...) Huh? I could swear that just a few weeks ago you recommended waiting around patiently for something to happen. (URL) decided to take your advice. Perhaps everyone else did too. ;) Don (22 years ago, 7-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Well, he was waiting.. but now perhaps he's wondering whether the necessary first step is going to happen or not? That step is Matt (or whoever?) finding the code, right, not setting up the SourceForge project. But you still could do that (...) (22 years ago, 7-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Martin Scragg
(...) Matt would need a least a week to sort things out, so I wasn't worried at that stage. (...) That is correct, I thought that Matt may have said that he had found it by now, and given it to someone. I didn't expect him to set up a sourceforge (...)          Re: Track Designer Registry —Don Heyse
(...) Yes, but in fact the project had already languished for a year, and both Leonardo and Matt admitted being too busy to work on it. New babies, dot com hours, and real life in general can be very distracting. It seemed to me that an opportunity (...) (22 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Leonardo Zide
(...) Wish I had dot com hours, they have to be better than video game company hours. :) (...) Good news, last night I was able to find the source package at home but my ISP was not very helpful and I couldn't upload it anywhere. I'll try again (...)          Re: Track Designer Registry —Leonardo Zide
Tried to create a sourceforge project last night but got stuck on the license part. Does Matt still reads this or does anyone have his current email address ? I'd like to hear from him what kind of license he wants to use. Leonardo (...) (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Don Heyse
(...) Good idea to check on the license. I forget, what are the choices at the SourceForge? In this post from a month ago he was still listed as "Matthew Bates" <train_depot@yahoo.com> (URL)In lugnet.trains, Leonardo Zide writes: (...)          Re: Track Designer Registry —Leonardo Zide
(...) Basically all open source licenses. If no license is acceptable then I can talk to the person who hosts my website/cvs server/mailing lists and ask him to host TD there too. Leonardo (22 years ago, 12-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Don Heyse
(...) It's been a while now, so I thought I'd check before I completely forget about this... Any progress on the license/hosting issue? Don (22 years ago, 6-May-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Martin Scragg
(...) If you don't have the time etc. to set it up at sourceforge, just email it to me and I will set it up. (...) A very long quite while. I was thiking the same thing myself on the weekend. (...) Like I said, just email it to me, and I will put it (...) (22 years ago, 7-May-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —William R. Ward
(...) Run under linux? music to my ears... Rather than move to .NET would you (Matt) consider moving it to a more cross-platform system, such as Java? --Bill. (22 years ago, 13-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Larry Pieniazek
(...) While I like Java more than most, that would be a complete rewrite, ne? And I have to agree with Kevin D. (and Joel, his reference, whom I've enjoyed reading for years now) that a complete rewrite is hardly ever a good idea. But then I'm an (...)         Re: Track Designer Registry —Matthew Bates
At this point I really don't mind what happens to Track Designer, I have zero time to spend on it. I'm basically going to open it up to the community and you guys can do whatever you want with the source, modify it, rewrite it, port it or put the (...)         Re: Track Designer Registry —Don Heyse
(...) Uh Oh! This thread got awfully quiet all of a sudden. I take it that means nobody wants to volunteer to create the SourceForge project... If so, I'll reluctantly volunteer to do it because I'd like to tinker with the source myself someday. I (...) (22 years ago, 14-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad)

Re: Track Designer Registry —Leonardo Zide
(...) If I still have the source I can make the SF project and upload it (provided that I get permission). My first goal was to move away from GDI and use OpenGL to draw the track layout to make it possible to port to other platforms (I managed to (...)          Re: Track Designer Registry —Larry Pieniazek

Re: Track Designer Registry —Martin Scragg
(...) I don't think it is anything to worry about. We (well I am anyway) waiting for Matt and/or Leonardo to sort out the source code, then as a group we should decide what to do with it.
