HoMa and the Trans Namib, part Zwei

This shot: (URL) Photoshopped?(1) Knowing the riff raff that HoMa hangs out with (2) I have my doubts. But I'm not 100% certain it's a spoof. It COULD make the front page of the paper, who knows (although I had no idea Namibia had a German paper... (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: The "Unknown" Santa Fe

(...) Neither do I. I didn't suggest it was wrong, only that I was curious why some folks like to keep sets unopened. It's a really hard concept for me to get my little brain around. :) (...) 100% for me, but then who's counting? (...) I suppose (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: The "Unknown" Santa Fe

(...) I must be missing some inside joke. Anyone care to fill me in? (...) I'm also enjoying some of the perks of adulthood. But I'm still in the dark about not opening LEGO sets. The curiousity would drive me crazy. I've bought multiple copies of (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: The "Unknown" Santa Fe

I have an unopened Technic Space Shuttle. I've never seen one opened. And it kills me that I have not opened this one, but one day in a 100 years, my kids (not even close to reality yet) will have something fun from my generation to play with still (...)   Re: Santa Fe Numbers

(...) Just received my train today, and unfortunately, while the number doesn't match any set, I'm quite happy with the number I did get... 777 It's pretty low for a release of 10,000 and triple sevens is doubly cool. I think the only other number (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: PNLTC display in Edmonds, WA

Hey that's great. Cool look at all that stuff. Legomaster (...) I always thought it wouild cool to have a huge Train/Mech-Mech bay/Town/Technical Facility/ Support industry / Space port set up. Having the Trains pull up and power loaders off load (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: The "Unknown" Santa Fe

(...) Hey, cool, my number is between your two! (...) I got the call and... *sigh*... it's a losing battle.... (...) This too may sound a bit snotty, but when I first got into LEGO I couldn't afford to even buy a single copy of every set I would (...)   Re: Santa Fe Numbers

(...) Ours is A4989, which sadly does not correlate to any LEGO set, according to the LUGNET database. My member number, 874, however, corresponds to an old Technic Accessory Set <set:874>. But I am pleased to report that after many years of trying (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: The "Unknown" Santa Fe

(...) <snip> (...) Well, I should have waited for you to post yours, because I just wrote the same basic message. I agree completely with this sentiment, even though I only have 2.5 4558's, and none of them are MISB, and a mostly "complete" 6399 (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: The "Unknown" Santa Fe

<snipping most of the article, sorry allan> I guess you are right in what you are saying about lego being a participating hobby. However. I really don't think there is anything wrong with "collecting Lego" so I do have several unopened sets...but (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: The "Unknown" Santa Fe

(...) I hope you don't take my response as snotty either. It's meant to illustrate a point... (...) It's way easy to have fun with a MISB set. I have a MISB 4558. I have lots of other 4558s... so many that I can build whatever I might want to build, (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: The "Unknown" Santa Fe

(...) I guess this begs the question. Did you buy them to enjoy them or to make money from them? I'm not judging, I'm just saying that if you bought them for yourself, to build and enjoy, then I think it's fantastic that you've opened them. I think (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Super Chief Weight Issues

(...) Really??? I had never heard of a controller cutting out (it does have a heat triggered overload sensor) with just one or two motors loading it REGARDLESS of length of continuous running. Wow. I wonder why. What is your frequency in Oz? 50hz or (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Santa Fe caboose

(...) Ya. I don't know whether to shudder at the incorrect use of the name (It is an F unit LOCOMOTIVE that just *happens* to be in the color scheme that Santa Fe used for passenger service, including assignment to the Super Chief named TRAIN)... or (...)   Re: Santa Fe caboose

(...) snipped My two numbers correspond to the following sets: <set:758> Storage Tray (ho hum...) and <set:5061> Replacement Motor Wires (is this related to 12 volt train sets?) My Lugnet number is much better: <set:404> Universal Building Set - 467 (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  The "Unknown" Santa Fe

I think that the train registry for the 10020 is a great idea! When I got my first three sets, I quickly opened all of the sets to see the numbers, but then after posting the sets numbers, on the Internet (URL), I quickly realized that I decreased (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Santa Fe Numbers

(...) I hadn't thought to see what my train numbers were as sets before reading this. I might just have the first number that is actually a train and not a Fabuland set, though. (I haven't read every message in this group, so this is only (...) (23 years ago, 4-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)
