  Re: Metroliner question (addendum)

Whoops! Forgot a few pictures: (URL) They may be long in the tooth, but you can see the cantenary clearly in the photos. LFB (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Metroliner question

(...) It doesn't take a real train-head to answer that. It's the conductor for electric power--raised to contact with the overhead lines. We don't use a third rail in *every* situation. ;) (Added factlet: Boston still has power lines up for *buses*, (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Metroliner question

Since I'm train illiterate, I have a question about the Metroliner. What is the purpose of this piece ((URL) the cantenary? And I've been browsing amtrak.com to find some pictures of the real Metroliner, but the best I've found thus far is this: (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) The sooner a LEGO Direct item becomes unavailable, the sooner that item begins to show up on eBay at inflated prices. Isn't that one of the things LEGO Direct was supposed to help stop?   Re: Single Buffers

Simon, These were attached to the 4.5V battery cars. They were used in at least the 7720 & 7722, possibly others: (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Super Chief and it's Numbers

(...) I would be real surprised if your receipt will have the engine # on it.So that does you very little in proving you have x number engine. (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Super Chief and it's Numbers

(...) If there isn't a "certificate"...then the next <prudent> thing would be to keep your receipt from your shipment. This way here, you have unrefutable evidence that your SuperChief is the REAL DEAL. That is my suggestion.... Benjamin Medinets (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Supplementary parts for 10020?

Apparently, after a long conversation with a Consumer Affairs employee, the part numbering system goes a little something like: (and these are ALL assumptions because of tight fisted meeting and emails flying around TLC right now about leakage of (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) I really like those portholes--for obvious (shipbuilding) reasons. I do hope the service packs include multiple portholes in grey. From the instruction photos I saw, the thinwalls are indeed pre-printed. (...) I only want some of the (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Buffers

I have two separate buffers pieces, each attached to a single 1x2 black plate. Any ideas which set(s) these may have come from? (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Supplementary parts for 10020?

(...) Was there a charge incurred with these packs? This item is getting more and more interesting. My best guess (if there is no extra cost) is that the numbered stickers(or printed 1x2 tile, or whatever it ends up being) are packaged seperatly, (...) (23 years ago, 20-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 10020 at brickswest and what the Sr. VP of lego direct said

Price point taken, yes, they would be expensive in the individual packs like 7858 & 7859. Speaking as a former 12V user, there was that nice little add-on called 7863. When I bought my system in 1985 (great year for American Dollar) in Europe, I (...) (23 years ago, 20-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 10020 limited to 10000 sets or not?

(...) I understood it as Mark did. Personally, after 10,000, I rather see a *different* engine run of 10,000 and have the Super Chief go out of production for a while (based on the fact that LD can only have so many different sets in production at (...) (23 years ago, 20-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)
