The elevated train isn't a monorail, it's just a raised rail commuter train.
It's meant to simulate the "public transportation" system here in Atlanta
(MARTA - It only having two stops is kind of an inside joke for the locals
since our light rail system has a very limited scope and only covers two of
the 15 metro counties in the Atlanta area)
It's a simple train that runs back and forth between the two stations, with
a 10 second pause in each station. The back and forth motion is controlled
by an RCX, train controller and a polarity switch. Since this is a 1.5 RCX I
didn't want to power the train from the batteries, so instead I have run the
train power unit through a polarity switch and the RCX switches the polarity
to a neutral position so the train stops, then 10 seconds later reverses the
power sending the train off to the other station. And it repeats this
process all day long.
