Re: FOTY - Xmas in July

(...) What about building? Do you consider building part of playing? I mean, building is a totally different option. You should have put 'playing, collecting, and BUILDING'!! Anyway, I disagree with that. You can collect, play, and build(-::-), all (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: FOTY - Xmas in July

(...) Take your sarcasm to RTL... (...) To imply that there are some who participate in LUGNET who are *not* obsessed is a bit of a stretch. Otherwise, why be here? As far as there not being a point to collecting, that is just so obviously wrong (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: FOTY - Xmas in July

(...) O good. I was worried another 24 hours might slip past without you mentioning your deep pockets or someone else's trust fund status. There is no point in collecting, Larry. Sure you can do it -- but all it expresses is obsession. But, to each (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: FOTY - Xmas in July

(...) Disagree. You can do both. It just takes deeper pockets. I have a MISB 4558 and a MISB 6399 I probably never will open but I play with 4558s whenever I want. (...) That I agree with. ++Lar (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: train display shelf at work

I used LEGO as a demo at Comdex one year for some video stuff (an always moving non-human subject). I thought about setting up a tack at the office in a ping-pong config using Mindstorms to control it. But on second thought I'm not sure why I'd do (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: record train

(...) The train is very impressive, the gas-turbine locomotive I've built has four motors.I wonder how powerful this would be in tractive effort? (My layout is way too small to test this!) -Harvey (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: New train MOCs

(...) In general, yes. But SR and N&W tended to run long hood first (for crash protection) so saw no reason to have a low hood on what to them was the "back end", since low hoods actually cost more, IIRC (the steel fab work for a high nose was less (...)   Re: New train MOCs

(...) Southern and Norfolk & Western (predecessor roads of Norfolk Southern) typically got high nose versions of stuff, well into the 80s, IIRC. So I'd say GP38 is very possible although I don't have the Diesel Spotters Guide cite to prove it. Tom (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.trains)

(...) one of (...) Now if only I could find more MISB 4558, 2150 or 4536 at the prices I paid for them I would be a happy man indeed. Actually I did buy 3x 4536, and built two. I thought I would sell the other to find the purchase. However, my (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.trains)

(...) Yeah, if you just leave it in the box, it's almost like just lookin' at pictures of sets in S@H and stores. :-) (24 years ago, 25-Jul-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: FOTY - Xmas in July

G'Day Ya gotta decide if you want to play OR collect. Playing is much more fun. I mean what is the point of having LEGO sitting in a box ! it should be in ones hands so you can feel it, and then enjoy your finished creations. Cheers Oliver My 1 1/2 (...)   Re: Lunar Mining Colony

  FOTY - Xmas in July

Havent had a decent find for a while then today, found an almost MISB 4558 Metroliner. I say almost as one bag has been opened, but the rest are still sealed. Whey hey!
