  Re: Looking for track

(...) Well what about a trade then? 2x 4552 <-> 4547+4549 ? Regards, Torsten (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Re: Metroliner at for sale at store

(...) The last year I ever found one on the shelves of a store was in 1995. That was the same year it sold out at Shop At Home. I'm sure that they continued to pop up on store shelves for some time after that. But the moment a set disappears from (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Metroliner at for sale at store

I'm just curious when was the last know date a Metroliner was available for purchase as a retail store or S@H? I would guess around the year 1995-1996? Does anyone have a more specific date or any stories revolving around looking for (or finding) (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  NMRA San Jose in Y2K

I have been placed on the waiting list for the NMRA Convention in San Jose. The show will take place Friday, August 4th through Sunday, August 6th. I told the layout coordinator that it was a Lego Train layout and got this response: [snipped for (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf, lugnet.trains)

(...) Hey cool! That's the one I saw 5 years ago! It's great to hear that there is a restoration effort going on for it. When I saw it 5 years ago, the drive rods were cut and it looked rather sad. An interesting thing is that the number somehow (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Another 'wheel' option - if you're ok with cutting <gasp> Lego pieces - is to use the big grey hubs from the Model Team 5571 or 5563 trucks. I did this for my Hiawatha model (pictures to come, someday!) and they look sweet. And, you can (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) 8- (...) Lego (...) you are using are too small. This is a pic of what I found (URL) . I am trying to use the old large wheels from sets 194, (URL) , 390-2, (URL) , 96 (URL) , articulating 38 wheels around a Lego track has been… interesting, I (...)   Re: Switching from 4,5V to 9V

(...) Well, actually, if you battery or RCX power your 9V motor, you can run it on 4.5V track... If I was converting from 4.5V to 9V, I would just abandon all the 4.5V track, and go all 9V track. The 4.5V motors should run just fine on the 9V track (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Switching from 4,5V to 9V

(...) I have built 2. Take a piece of straight 9v track, and cut it in 1/2. Take 2 rails from the 4.5V track, and cut them in 2. (I use a dremel (the metal on the 9v track) and a minature Hacksaw (the plastic) to do my cutting). Take 1 sleeper, a (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Massive 4-8-8-4 Steam locomotive pics posted

(...) Yeah, the middle technic pulleys are offset to the track around corners, but all sit dead center in straight-aways. I originally had rubber Technic belts from axel to axel to keep all of the wheels in motion, but it caused too much friction (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)
