I have been working on a Big Boy locomotive and found that the drive wheels
you are using are too small. This is a pic of what I found

from sets 194, http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=194 , 390-2,
http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=390-2 , 96
http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=396 , articulating 38 wheels around
a Lego track has been… interesting, I am still working on this. And no it was
not “Larry Pieniazek's off the cuff "couldn't be done" remark” I have been
working on this for several months. Buy the way if any body has some of these
wheels please let me know trying to get them on ebay has been expensive. I
will try to post pictures when I am finished.

| (...) Another 'wheel' option - if you're ok with cutting <gasp> Lego pieces - is to use the big grey hubs from the Model Team 5571 or 5563 trucks. I did this for my Hiawatha model (pictures to come, someday!) and they look sweet. And, you can (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.trains)
