Re: what is the use of a caboose?

Now this is long and maybe too off-topic but I thought you trainheads might be interested in transport issues, let me know if I shouldn't post this sort of thing: (...) Lawrence wrote: (...) You all have been wonderful, but I'll be using this forum only for reading posts, not providing input of any kind...-Harvey (23 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: brickshelf pics

(...) That police car is interesting. I have 3 cars in my town modeled after a Plymoth Acclaim. I'll have to switch cars though, the car isn't being produced anymore, so the town will have to buy new from somewhere else. Josh (23 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lubricating axels, etc.

(...) [snip] (...) One last hint: if the wheels sets are quite old and have been used for most of the time under heavy duty, then they might have evidently wear in their bearings. The 9V wheel blocks are using "tip bearings" (sorry I have not found (...) (23 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Monorail track and other stuff

(...) When I was a kid I made such a monorail made of single 12V track elements. The vehincles for this where basicly 4 wide plates with some build up on top and four round bricks 1 x 1 under it, one pair (1 stud apard) at the front and one pair at (...)   brickshelf pics

hi, i finally posted some pics of my MOC 4559 and Lego town in the brickshelf gallery. im still uploading pics as we speak so please check it out. the police car is based on an NYPD highway patrol unit with the Mcdermott highrise lights. (URL) for (...) (23 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Speed regulator question

(...) Maybe LTG should stop putting oval tracks in each set and start putting straight tracks or switch tracks instead. lets face it, curved tracks are necessary, but too many of them can be a real pain in the pitute. joe (23 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lubricating axels, etc.

(...) Steve, LEGO® train wheels are not designed to be lubricated. The oil will destroy the rubber traction tires on the 9V motors resulting in total loss of traction (not to mention dirt buildup on all wheels concerned). Just my 10 cents (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: what is the use of a caboose?

(...) Seen from my European viewpoint, I've come up with the following solution to run this set in a modern European setting. Simply lower the elevated roof section to about a 1 brick heigth difference (use the windows elswhere), so that bump looks (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lubricating axels, etc.

(...) I'd tend to think that it is a electrical issue. I have hauled 92(IIRC) cars with a single motor- so, you should be able to manage 4 with one motor, under a suitable engine (reasonably heavy). Do the wheels slip on the engine? or does it just (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lubricating axels, etc.

(...) <snip> (...) Thanks, Larry. I'm using a 2 motor engine and a 1 motor engine. Both are ~24 stud MOCs. I suppose I should swap some motors around to see if there are problems with the motors I'm using. I first tried just the 2 motor engine to (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Monorail track and other stuff

Now before I go buy and destroy a bunch of stuff I shouldn't have.... has anyone made monorail track? It looks like you could make it out of old 12V rails taken off, laid seperately end to end and raised up on 1 or 2 (1x) plates. Have any of you (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Lubricating axels, etc.

(...) How are the engines configured? One or two 2 truck locos, well weighted, ought to be able to pull well in excess of 20 4 axle cars on a level track, even through curves (people run way more than that but this is easy to achieve). So your (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Lubricating axels, etc.

Well, I finally finished my train tables. They basically form a square 10' on a side. I'm having some efficiency problems with the largest loop. I'm having to use 3 engines to pull 4 of the cars from 4561. The loop's length is nearing 40'. What (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Speed regulator question

Obviously it wouldn't be free if it came in the box, but I've actually realized that it is probably better that it isn't, as it has been mentioned in this thread that it is possible to buy a speed regulator cheaper than what Lego sells it for. It's (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.trains)
