Well, I'll go ahead and say something - I really like your models!  Lugnet often
seems to prefer original creations, but I've always enjoyed modeling real-life
vehicles like you've done, and done very well.  You've quietly used a lot of
advanced techniques in your models to accurately emulate the real things, and
the level of realism is excellent.  I can see your patience in the high degree
of detail put into rather commonplace objects such as a Greyhound bus. Not so
sure about the somewhat gratuituous use of clear plastic for windshields, but
your stickers I like!  This stuff would all look great in Legoland.

Seth.

Thanks for the comments. That my MOCs would look good in Legoland is a major
compliment. One of my inspirations were the pictures in the Ultimate LEGO book,
and apparently that shows. I admire people for the creativity and often humour
that goes into building original creations,  but I prefer building accurate
representations of real things. For me most of the fun goes into getting the
details right. Anybody can build a bus that is recognisable as a Greyhound, but
to me it just wouldn't look right without the little lights above the windshield
for instance.
I do use a lot of transparent plastic for the windows. That's something I
started with the canopy of my Tomcat, and to me it looked so good that I've been
using it ever since, although in many cases I would prefer to use transparent
LEGO. I just don't have enought transparent bricks, plates and slopes to be able
to do it, so I have to compromise. The stickers are a compromise as well. I try
to make as many details of the colourschemes as possible in LEGO, but for
lettering and finely detailed markings (such as the Greyhound or the markings on
my jets) I resort to stickers, which still takes a lot of effort. I have
considered making them on a computer, but I am a bit worried about getting the
colours to match the LEGO. For now  I make them in a somewhat old-fashioned
manner using pens, pencils, bits of paper, and lots of transparent tape.  I'm
glad you like them.

Regards,
Ralph
