If the DAT entry includes pieces that LEGO has produced and in
colors they have produced then the DAT could possibly be in the same
catagories as the Photo entries.  If the DAT includes parts in colors
that LEGO never produced or parts are not "connected" in a way that
would hold them together in real life then those entries should be in
a separate catagory.

I have two remaining problems with placing DATs in the same categories as
photos. First, you can use any number of rare pieces. Second, you can build
things that *attach* like real-world pieces but you aren't limited to building
structures that would actually *hold*.

I agree. Building in "Real Life" is an additional challenge. One could think of
it as "Built Projects" vs. "Project Proposals."

I've seen architecture exhibits where the designs were never expected to be
built -- they were extreme solutions because they weren't limited by "normal"
constraints (such as money, materials, gravity, etc).

If such a deliniation were made, I would wonder if detailed blueprints or
drawings would be eligible for submission. This would be appealing to me, but
seems almost like another contest.
