I love the idea of a town building contest and I already have some models
picked out for entry. I think that a person should be allowed to enter
one(and only one) model into each catagory. For voting each person gets to
vote for one model in each catagory. Pictures of the model can be submitted
in either photo or Cad rendering format.
For catagories I would suggest:
   Multiple building
   Single building,
   Single building, commercial/industrial(non-residential)
   Train/monorail related buildings
Structures (bridges, water towers, statues, etc...)
Personal vehicles (split by minifig scale & >minifig scale)
Commercial/Industrial vehicles (split by minifig scale & >minifig scale)
   Boats/ships
     Planes

So basically all I added was "planes". Physical prizes would be great, but
I'd be grateful for just a logo for my web site.

I guess that's all for know.

(Forgot to post this to .announce originally - FUT .town)

In the spirit of the recent Classic Space building contest, I'm proposing
(and am willing to organise) a building contest for us TOWN junkies. I have
some ideas of how we can do it (and I've set up a placeholder page on LUGNET
for it, same as Todd did for the Classic Space comp) but I'd like everyone
interested to have a say in how it works, so please reply to this message
with your ideas.

Here's my thoughts, to get us started...

The idea is to produce the best looking models, not necessarily ones that
look like Lego sets.
Scale can be minifig, classic, or other. Fabuland?
Anyone can enter, up to a maximum of _n_ times
Anyone can vote, whether they entered or not. One vote per person. (This is
different from the CS comp).
Should this be just buildings, or vehicles as well? (opens the door to ships
and planes as well as cars and trucks)
Entries in by Feb 15th
Votes in by Feb 28th
Include photos and DAT-only entries? in separate categories?

Possible Categories (not mutually exclusive):
Multiple building group (eg "Main Street" type scenes)(not an entire
town layout)
Single building, residential (everything from cottage to hi-rise
apartment block)(or split by size)
Single building, commercial/industrial (including Train buildings?
churches?)(split by size?)
   Train/monorail related buildings
   Lego-set type buildings
   Structures (bridges, etc...)
Personal vehicles (split by 4-wide, >4 wide?)
   Commercial/Industrial vehicles (size split?)
   Boats/ships?
Categories by model size (# pieces)

I think this could be a lot of fun. Thoughts please!

Kevin
