Unless you like giving out this kind of information, I'd remove it ASAP.

I'd never heard this.  I found it hard to believe, since the thing isn't even
on unless you go to a website with a cursor on it.  I did a Google search of
"comet cursor spy" and the first two sites alone

http://www.suttondesigns.com/EnigmaBrowser/infospyware.html
http://www.epinions.com/cmd-review-4E35-1ED725D-39CBD699-prod1

refuted this.  Yes, the comet software sends info back to the Comet's website,
but it has to do this in order to get the cursor image and send it to your PC.
The second site describes how it's no worse in this respect than a hit
counter.

Maybe you aren't aware of this, but every web site you visit "tracks" your
coming and going from that site.  They're called server logs.  Every time you
visit any web page it keeps track of what files you loaded and what your IP
address is.  Spyware?  No, it needs both peices of information just to get the
web page to your screen.  There is no way to be truely anonymous on the web.

Now hey, if you don't like comet cursor, don't install it.  If Microtrash IE
software installs it without asking, delete it and fix the Preferences.  But
talking about something that's just a cute little web add on like it's Big
Brother makes you sound like a kook.
