How to strengthen friction peg? —Steve Runnels
Well, I've tried putting paper into the peg several different ways to try to make it stiffer, but the paper loosens up after awhile... Some joints just don't have room (functionaly or estheticaly) for anything but a simple friction peg, but they (...) (24 years ago, 17-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: How to strengthen friction peg? —Gaurav Thakur
(...) If you just want a stiffer friction peg, you could try using the old pre-1990 friction pegs. (these came with sets such as 8854, 8855, 8862, 8865, etc) These old pegs did not have the two small slots in the center, making them very tough to (...)      (...) Never thought it could be translated that way, so I better comment on it then :) It seems like a good way to stiffen the pegs up and I might give it a go if I ever need it. Thanks. /Tobbe (URL) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: How to strengthen friction peg? —Jason S. Mantor
Purists will wretch, but I've found that running a #4-40 screw through the center and securing it with 2washers, a lockwasher, & a nut works *VERY* well...
