So.....does that mean I can ORDER from UK or Ireland SAH with a US credit
card as long as I have it shipped to an address in the corresponding • country
(UK or Ireland)????  If so, my in-laws may finally come in useful :)  I
wonder what you get charged on the exchange rate?

Yes, youv'e always been able to do that.

In big capital letters on the home page of shoe.lego.com
The very first thing it asks you is
'PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR SHIP TO COUNTRY'

Perhaps it is not that obvious to everyone that this doesn't mean 'what
country are you in', but 'where do you want it sent'

Yep.  I'm in Holland and able to order on a US charge card.
As to what you get charged as exchange, John, that's between
you and your credit card company.  However, I would give them
a call first, because some CC companies really like to gouge--
I know of a few that charge 6% (!!!) surcharge *plus* taking
a sliver out of the exchange rate itself *plus* a flat $2.50
per overseas transaction--which can be very shocking if you
weren't expecting it. IIRC, Citibank and Chase are two of
the very worst offenders in this regard.

If people did it, it would be called usury or loansharking--
but banks and charge card providers do it, and it's called
   "service." Funny how that works.

   best

(Note: if we want to get into a discussion on this, maybe
   FUT -> .market.theory or .market.services?)
