Actually, if you've ever watched a grader in real life you'll know why I
want it to be one piece.

Road graders commonly perform a process known as 'drilling', or rolling the
dirt in front of the grader to one side.  Essentially, what happens is that
the dirt in front of the grader is scraped off the ground, mounds up in
front of the blade, and eventually rolls to one side, much the same way as
most plow blades would turn soil over.

Now if these ridges were to be in the grader, not only would it not look
very good, the drilling process wouldn't look very realistic or work
properly in a model.  And I would like to build a road grader one day.
Unfortunately I can't, at this time, due to lack of a suitable grader blade
piece that I can use.

The lack of suitable pneumatic cylinders is also a problem, but that would
require re-engineering of them to have clips on them, where the piston is
retracted/extended.  They could probably be a bit longer too, but that's
IMHO.

That might well be the closest yet to come to a grader blade.

Although I would prefer it if it didn't have those nasty-looking ridges • made
by the studs and plates that help fit them together.

Should be fairly simple to make one, a 90o curve isn't too far off what • most
grader blades would have on them anyhow.

Attaching it to the grader is left as an exercise for the reader 8?)

Yeah, I knew what you meant, that's why I said "its not perfect" in the original post. It'd be nifty if the ridges were on the outside, but then the pod would look a bit silly, and the ribs would scrape the ground below the blade. I still think it (...) (24 years ago, 9-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Are you planning to make an actual WORKING model then? Steve Lane (24 years ago, 9-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)
