Re: Yet another use for 7106 —Geoffrey Hyde
Actually, if you've ever watched a grader in real life you'll know why I want it to be one piece. Road graders commonly perform a process known as 'drilling', or rolling the dirt in front of the grader to one side. Essentially, what happens is that (...)      Yeah, I knew what you meant, that's why I said "its not perfect" in the original post. It'd be nifty if the ridges were on the outside, but then the pod would look a bit silly, and the ribs would scrape the ground below the blade. I still think it (...)         Re: Yet another use for 7106 —Geoffrey Hyde
Only if TLG comes up with a suitable piece. And by that time, I suspect they'll also have a model to go with it, thus beating me to the point. But if they don't, then maybe I'll have a chance. :-) I've already got two 8462's, so there's some of the (...) (24 years ago, 9-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Yet another use for 7106 —Jennifer Clark
(...) How about a homebrew one? I believe it is possible to get fairly thick "plastic card" which can be heated in the oven and moulded - I think this is a technique used by those who scratch build scale models of various types. It won't be pure but (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Yet another use for 7106 —Steve Lane
(...) Among my myriad talents I'm also an occasional scratch builder. I've recently made a circular housing by wrapping a flexible strip of plasticard around a circular former secured by an elastic band and then throwing it into a sink full of (...)      (...) The oven seems to work well too from what I remember, and I'm sure it fitted the mould rather well after being roasted for a while. I have no idea if this is proper procedure, however. Jennifer Clark (24 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Indeed, or even carve the molds from wood. I think the most difficult bit would be making attachment points for the Technic pieces, although it may be possible to glue pieces of standard parts onto it for this purpose. (...)
