  Re: 2001 Model

(...) I've recently bought both, second hand, built up, but I must say I'm not impressed with either. Don't get me wrong, the sets are brilliant, for parts. but when I came to play ( I mean operate, 25 year olds don't play)with them I soon lost (...) (24 years ago, 29-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

You surely have pressed the limits of what the pneumatics are capable of. As a new user, I have not had a chance to experiment with the actual capabilities of the system. Great to hear from someone who has. (...) I agree 100%. Legos is about (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) The system really is good, your sometime's, amazed at just how powerful those little cylinders can be. (...) That's a really good point. It's been so long since I built a 'canned model' that I forgot how much fun they can be. I think the last (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Spectacle lift! It took me a moment to get that :-) I built up my tow truck last week, and must confess to trying a similar range of experiments to yourself, with a similar mixed success rate. It would probably work quite well with more (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 2001 Model

After "operating" my tow truck for a few minutes, I noticed a few similar limitations. My mods included: -adding a second pneumatic piston to raise/lower the lifting frame. -better steering (tighter turning radius). -stronger crane arm / motorized (...) (...) I'm sure that's the proper name for it. (...) Say anything you like :-) There are some exceptions though, and it (...) Can't say I've ever done that :-) As you develop your own model you build a small part, test it and then it works or you (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

I agree. I am not sure who coined the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but as my old QC instructor use to say, "if it ain't broke, how do we make it BETTER!" That should be the goal of every Lego fan. After all, this is how we learn and (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) The great thing about karate movies is that there is nearly always a fight scene taking place around loads of machinery, which the baddies inevitably get squished in. This makes it ideal for re-enactment with Technic figures and construction (...) (24 years ago, 2-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)
