(...) 12v didn't require those darned batteries... if you already had a 12v transformer it would be a waste of money (if you check out the image of the 880 set, you'll notice it has the special plug meant for the 12v transformers) LEGO even adapted (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

I took a second look at it. when you put on the upper plates (pic 6) it's hard to see the gear, but in pics 3,4,5 it's quite obvious - three gears inside the inner box, one of them connected to the same axle as the pulley (making left-right movement (...) Hi, Thanks for the comments. I spent many hours trying to figure out a design for a joystick. Eventually I found a web page where someone had already got a working model. My design is based on that, but made much smaller. The original design is at: (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Yeah, the springs on these yellow shock absorbers are much stiffer than the normal ones. Although on the Silver Champion, even they are not enough to hold up the chassis properly (sometimes when it is pushed down, it stays down). They work quite (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.technic)

Great model! I tried to figure out the joystick design for some time and I think there is a mistake in the instructions - It seems to me that there should be only two gears inside the inner box.
