 | | Clock strikes hours
|
|
I came up with a Lego implementation of a clock striking device that strikes a bell to indicate the hour. At 1:00, it rings the bell once, at 2:00 it rings the bell twice, etc. It is powered by a weight, and it will play the sequence of hours over (...) (25 years ago, 4-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

(...) What you are thinking of is generally referred to as a "multi stage hydraulic ram", but as far as I can ascertain, that is not how real multi sectioned booms with more than 3 sections work. An engineer friend of mine suggested that using this (...) (25 years ago, 3-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Neat! I'd often thought about trying something like this! When I was a kid, (pre-technic!!) I built a gantry crane that used a complex series of cables (string) and pulleys. I only had 1 (4.5V) motor at the time, so all movement had to be controlled (...) (25 years ago, 3-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

Hi Jennifer, (...) 3-sectioned crane! I also thought how THIS might work in real an came up with that kind of cable-mechanism you used! But I never was able to fit it into a technic construction ;-(( But how does a real multi sectioned boom work? (...) (25 years ago, 3-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

 | | How many pieces in Spark and Flare?

I saw <set:8521 Flare> and <set:8522 Spark> yesterday. Not for the first time, of course, but it was the first time I looked at the number of pieces on the boxes. Spark had 33 pieces, and Flare had 42. In the Lugnet Guide, and in a LS@H catalog (...) (25 years ago, 3-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.general, lugnet.faq)

A while back--a year or more--I saw a great model v8 technic engine one somebody's site. Of course I have no idea who. It had a LOT of good pictures from all angles, and I think a scene of the engine block suspended from a stand with that lego (...) (25 years ago, 2-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

I would tend to think he's reffering to parts used in wings. Like those in the 8480 Space Shuttle. Technic sloped beams, small bevel gears for flaps and such. Fred (25 years ago, 1-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)
