  Re: Another Technic Creation

(...) Ah, but some of maintain the hope that Lego will make sets that are intended for adults or gifted children to use. I'd pay a premium (over and above the component costs) for a set as feature-packed and mechanically ingenious as any of (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Another Technic Creation

(...) I'm not saying all Technic models should be like Jennifer's; just that some should. The technic space shuttle took me a long time to assemble, and I enjoyed the whole process. It's really neat to see how something that complicated fits (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8880 Hydralics (sp?)

I know you have already answered yourself, Rob, and have abandoned your plan, but still I knew I had seen something like this idea before (I found the link at Fredrik Glockner's site): (URL) design by Ben Williamson uses small pneumatic cylinders (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Another Technic Creation

(...) I'm not quite sure I agree, I think some kids are probably are a lot more intelligent than we give them credit for, and I think they are getting brighter?? Where Jennifers models really score for me is the attention to detail and that sort of (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Another Technic Creation

(...) I dunno about that. Didn't someone here say that he/she found the 8480 Space Shuttle too difficult to build? Given that LEGO sets are, after all, children's toys, I think they should comprise fairly simple mechanics and construction, so that (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: The Giant Wheelbot

(...) Tobbe, The current version I have has 2 motors but it is not strong enough to twist the structure left or right. I do like the gear system you have on yours and maybe it is a question of insufficient torque to twist it around so I may have to (...)   Re: The Giant Wheelbot

(...) Yep, I made this in May '00 I reccon and as the page declares, it didn't work to good :) (...) LOL! (...) I haven't really though of it much since the version on the web. My hopes was that the wheel could be divided in two halfs and to have (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.znap, lugnet.fun)

  Re: The Giant Wheelbot

(...) Tobbe, That is amazing ! I had no idea someone else was working on a wheelbot/ wheeliebot. And it looks like we both started out on the same path. I have a similar lattice structure to yours using just Technic parts but as mentioned it was (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.znap, lugnet.fun)

  Re: Another Technic Creation

(...) I hope John Barnes doesn't mind me posting this, but he has fitted a large set of toy tank tracks successfully to a lego creation on his web page, which I think would give better grip and be a lot cheaper than the official Lego track pieces.   Re: Another Technic Creation

(...) Sure - it took about 6 weeks from start to finish to build the excavator, although I wasn't working on it all the time. Much of this was spend "debugging" and tweaking the model rather than pure creation as such; in that way it was a bit like (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Another Technic Creation

(...) Thanks Zhengrong. I must confess that the ideas I've had for using an RCX (which I don't actually have at the moment) are actually rather mundane things like creating an anti two-block device for cranes and other "real life" type systems. (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Another Technic Creation

(...) Thanks Klaas - getting the pneumatics compact was actually a lot harder than it looks, and did involve a few trade offs such as having to use two cylinders for the main boom instead of one to allow a good range of movement. (...) Yes, I (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Another Technic Creation

(...) Thanks Duq - the pneumatics are great. I remember mucking about with all sorts of levers, gears and racks before I started using the pneumatics, and they really do open up many possibilities. I just wish they'd make the individual elements (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-00, to lugnet.technic)
