Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

The 8448's are still selling pretty strong in Skandinavia... I saw them at Legoland Billund (Danmark) for about $60 USD, and they were selling like crazy. The 8445's are also still being sold in large quantities in Danmark and Sweden, but they're (...) (25 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) I doubt it. I just did a USPTO trademark search and diddn't find anything obvious for "Super Street". Also, the 8445 was actually recalled from all stores, the 8448 was still sold by TLC stores until supply ran out a few months ago. 8448 was (...) (25 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

Could it be that 8448 also had a problem with a copyright, like 8445(Indy Storm). After all, there is a magazine called Super Street, so Super Street Sensation would definately conflict. Indy conflicts with way too many things, Indianapolis raceway, (...) (25 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) I saw on the pictures the are transparant-blue. Are these the seconde-edition of the air-dampers?? Or are these broken afther a time too? (I know, it's a difficult question, but are there differences between the "old" and (hopefully) "new" (...) (25 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) I should correct mmyself. 8448 was discontinued 3 months after it was released, not 6. I can't give the details, but I know from several sources that 8448 is no more. The only chance of getting one new is the Imagination centers, but I don't (...) (25 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion's on the way in the USA

It just arrived this morning. The box is about the same size as 8448. The front panel opens to show lots of pics of the completed car. The box has a clear half panel once the lid is open, to expose a bag of silver parts, the silver wheels and the (...) (25 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Experience with Tow Truck 8462?

(...) From my own perspective, it is basically due to having an interest in how things work and/or making things work, a geek philosophy if you like. From this, making lego models and doing a PhD in a technical subject seem pretty consistent with (...) (25 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Experience with Tow Truck 8462?

Jennifer, (...) So many adult Lego fanatics have done, or are doing PhDs! I'm at the same stage as you, writing up :-( Just a shame that I haven't got a Lego bribe to spur me on like you! And what IS the connection between doing a PhD and being (...) (25 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Experience with Tow Truck 8462?

(...) I've still not built the 8462 I have yet (it is a personal bribe for getting to the halfway point in writing my thesis) but I think it looks pretty good, although perhaps a little on the large side for Technic figures. It cost 50 UKP from Busy (...) (25 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: New Hexapod

(...) The rims are from the ~old~ supercar (8880) and the tires are from an old RC car, they are a bit to large but it worked fine , specially with the Five 5 motors.(4 for drive and one for steering) The tractor pullers where made back in January (...)
