Re: RC control on Pneumatics, gearboxes and polarity switches

(...) It's 8868 I reccon, the same set that gave me the idea to this whole project :) I did build a compressor yesterday with a 'medium' sized old-style cylinder. I used two old style 9v motors and I didn't like the weak performance of the (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Just Started 8479 Code Pilot Truck....

Hey Everyone, I just started on the main model (the truck) for the Code Pilot set (8479) and MAN do I appreciate the work Lego has put into the newer kits by segregating pieces in to sequentially numbered containers. The Super Street Sensation (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Hidden Technic Kits for 2000

I'm not so sure about that. I think 8516 is Roboriders Wave 2, much like 8520 to 8523 is Throwbots Wave 2. 1. The technic catalog I got with my pit droid last Dec only shows the first six riders. 2. www.lego.com/roboriders/ only shows the first six. (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: RC control on Pneumatics, gearboxes and polarity switches

(...) You just build the compressor, and for gods sake - don't use the air tanks! They're great when used with the handpump, but can ruin almost any compressor design. Take a look at the compressor in that awesom "claw truck" (can't remember the set (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: RC control on Pneumatics, gearboxes and polarity switches

Ohh I didn't realise you are from Sweden. (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: RC control on Pneumatics, gearboxes and polarity switches

(...) Not to worry, I've been using that equipment for long and are well in to the laws and such here in Sweden. It's in a legal and open, free band with no restrictions at all. No one uses that frequency for airplanes anymore here in Sweden, and if (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Hidden Technic Kits for 2000

(...) Thanks for the input. I'll stick with the Planos for now. But the Lego suitcase looks pretty cool. Maybe it's because I also have a lot of DeWalt power tools, and they all have the same types of cases, along with that mesmerizing electric (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: RC control on Pneumatics, gearboxes and polarity switches

There is one very important point that no one has considered. The FCC has set up laws prohibiting use of air frequencies on land vehicles. This is to protect RC pilots from interference from other people on the same frequency. Someone could be (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Hidden Technic Kits for 2000

Hi Sean, all the sets are shown in the latest german consumer catalog so we can be sure that they will appear this year. However, 8516 should have been released in June (like all other Roboriders) and no retailer was yet able to tell me anything (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Hidden Technic Kits for 2000

(...) Are any of them even available yet? (...) Plusses: 1. Looks kinda cool (but not "way cool", by any stretch). 2. Has a molded-in ruler calibrated in studs. 3. Partitions are slightly more configurable than a Plano box. Specifically, you can (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Throwbots: An Introduction

(...) I haven't tried this yet, but it looks like it might make a good "trailer hitch". Especially for remote-controlled or robotic vehicles: the flex in the middle of the arm, and the design of the hand, suggest that you could get a couple of (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Experience with Tow Truck 8462?

(...) hi, Yep, it's a cool set for pneumatics fans with 3 large pneumatic cylinders, 3 valves and 2 of the (hard to get) blue air tanks. They're on offer at US $62.50 at DYA Shopping (France) (URL) get 'em before they run out. Then you can stop (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: RC control on Pneumatics, gearboxes and polarity switches

(...) Don't worry. It will propably take months for me to solve this thing, so you have plenty of time to beat me on the finish-line :P (...) It's possible for me to get my hands on another RC equipment since my father just placed his model (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: RC control on Pneumatics, gearboxes and polarity switches

(...) LOL, that might be a great idea ;) (...) I thought something like this; The RC-controller has two joysticks that combined control four servos. The fifth channel is a switch made for landing gears (it's an model airplane controller). I thought (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Throwbots: An Introduction

(...) My receipe for making something big is start off using Blasters legs (change the colour of course!) Use his torso design too, use normal arms, except mount them on the standard arm mount (the "Hand") so that they're longer, and make huge (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Experience with Tow Truck 8462?

Hey, Does anyone have experience with the Tow Truck 8462? It looks as though it has pneumatic tanks on the sides, which is a big plus for me. But it seems very hard to come by. Is it worth the $122 retail that Lego Shop @ Home was charging (when (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Hidden Technic Kits for 2000

Does anyone have any of the non-retail Technic kits for 2000? 8516 Super RoboRider (details, anyone) 5218 Pneumatic Pack 5219 Spare Wheels 5220 Styling Pack (looks like leftover parts from the new 8458 Formula I) 5221 Motor Base (what is this for? (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Throwbots: An Introduction

(...) Agreed, totally. (...) Mine (not counting Blaster or Millenium) is Flare, just for the orange, and even though he has TWO of those damned throwing arms. (...) Good. The Roborider heads (except Dust and Onyx) are GREAT. I would rather use the (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Throwbots: An Introduction

First off, here's my RULE: Buy two so that you have enough pieces to make another arm and you can throw out the throwing arms. My favourite complete Throwbot would have to be Electro, or whatever the purple bug's name is. As i stated before, i buy (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Throwbots: An Introduction

In a nutshell, the Throwbots seemed to be targeted at the age 7-12 crowd. They combine elements of other popular toys: Transformers, BattleTech, Lego (duh), POGs (collectible caps), and even a smidge of Pokemon thrown in (although not marketed as (...) (25 years ago, 8-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)
