VOTE: Technic Model of the Month - February

FUT: lugnet.technic Hi there! As it is a new month it's not only time to select the best MOTM on ldraw.org but also time to vote for the best _Technic_ MOTM! I got nine entries this first very short premier month, see them and judge them here: (URL) (...)   Re: Bionicle comic #4, The Bohrok Awake! (Some questions)

(...) In the online game, they all had their gold masks by the time they got to Kini Nui. I don't think every detail of the plots are going to be shown. And even those that are shown are full of inconsistencies. The non-toy materials are more like (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic.bionicle)

  Re: Still under development

(...) I looked at the motor in the dat and it was just as you described, I've changed them all to grey so it's fixed now even the one you can't see :-). (...) Yes you can see it but I'm gonna leave it like that. (...) The device you mention is (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Pneumatics: the old and the new

Hello pneumatics fans, I have been working a lot with pneumatics lately, and have made some interesting discoveries. I think the most notable is a method of using the old style red cylinders with the new pneumatics system. I came across this as I (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

Bionicle comic #4, The Bohrok Awake! (Some questions)

1. The Gold Kanohi- How did the Toa get them? According to Bionicle # 3, gold masks combine the energies of all 6 masks. But the Toa didn't have all of the regular masks before Bionicle #4- Tahu has no mask of levitation, for example. Were the gold (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic.bionicle)

  Re: Still under development

(...) Did you specify the color in LDRAW? I've noticed that some elements cant change color since the colors are specified in the elements dat-file. Perhaps POVRAY can use the user-selected color. If you for example had a yellow brick selected when (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Still under development

(...) That was an accident, in the dat they are grey and black but POVRAY colours them in yellow for some reason. There almost fully covered up now. After yesterdays post I carried on with it and finished the bodywork. (URL)Sand? *peeks out my (...) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Single set Technic Power Pulling.

(...) Thanks Tobbe :-) Steve (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Still under development

(...) I like the yellow motors .) Sand? *peeks out my window* Nothing but snow out there and snow-jam is no big deal as I hope to display soon :) Nice work! How much can it pull? *smiles* /Tobbe (URL) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Single set Technic Power Pulling.

(...) Well said Steve :) /Tobbe (URL) (23 years ago, 1-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: killing off technic

(...) But remember, in 1980 even technic beams were still "kinda new"! ROSCO (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Still under development

(...) That's never happened, Yet!! Actually the body work stops that from happening and there used to be a 1x8 plate connecting the racks and keeping them in the correct place. I've put the dat up to enable a closer look. Steve (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Still under development

Steve, I like the design you used to control the height of the blade. You may need to beef up the upper portion of the support of the gear rack. It will probably derail if you do not support both sides of the rack. Cool design all around. Very (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Still under development

This is what I built over the weekend, it's a bit of a diversion in between bigger projects. (URL) not finished yet, and the bodwork is virtual since it's not been put on the real machine yet. The tracks drive independantly and the blade moves up (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Single set Technic Power Pulling.

(...) You've missed the point of the competition. Each set has it's own class. The challenge is to get the most out of the parts you are given. I think the current rules are fine. What you have described would be a completely different competition. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Single set Technic Power Pulling.

Tobbe Arnesson: Instead of using a single Lego set the parameters should be 1-4 motors and the type of tires used. The amount of Lego shouldn't matter. Only Lego should be used and no other weight materials added. There should be weight classes. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: killing off technic

(...) IMHO the Technic line went downhill after the 8480 Space Shuttle and I think it's about to hit rock bottom this year and hit it hard! (...) Oh, that's also a "new" piece to me since it came out the same year(s) that I entered my dark ages.. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Single set Technic Power Pulling.

(...) It has to have an inventory at Peeron so you'll need to get one up there first :) (...) Well, there is one class per set e.g. you wont compete with the other sets :) /Tobbe (URL) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

RE: Single set Technic Power Pulling.

Does this have to be a commercially available set? There is a scaled up model of a Lego Racer in Hamley's of London window. Wheels are about 2 feet in diameter and powered by a 240V mains motor - should be able to beat all comers!!! If I can get (...) (23 years ago, 28-Feb-02, to lugnet.technic)

(...) catalogues to see what lies in store, only to be unimpressed. Cars, cars, cars, cars, cars, bionicle (great parts, lousy idea), cars, starwars (hated it the first time round when I was 14, and its not getting any better, just better hyped IMHO (...)
