  Re: building thicker technic axles

(...) Definitely. Although it doesn't need to rotate much, I've used such an idea on my bridge (URL) for the main support hinges. Also, as it only takes forces in 1 direction, I've only used 2 corner (macaroni) pieces on one side. The sections of (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: building thicker technic axles

(...) Well... there's always the technic turntables-- you can build on top of them with regular bricks... (URL)... (...) Probably. Although it might be considerably larger in order to get the sturdiness necessary. I know I contemplated it many times (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Motorized Lego Steering

Is there a way to stop the motor from exerting force on the gear rack once the steering has reached its furthest point? i.e. How do you stop the steering mechanism from going to far? (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: building thicker technic axles

(...) Probably, but I think an easier solution is to have multiple shearing planes on your axle (a normal Technic axle). You can kind of see this idea in my crane: (URL) don't know how much shear force an axle can take, but I know it's quite a bit. (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  building thicker technic axles

Hello, When I see those very big cranes, I wonder how the pivoting points at the bottom of the large booms can hold it out. Are two or more beams with a technic axle enough to handle the enormous force ? I was wondering if it's possible to build (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Mechanical Automatic Transmission

(...) Couldn't have put it better myself! Except perhaps many thanks! That's really neat, Jeff! I think I've worked out how it all goes together - I'm gonna have to try it out on the weekend! And I'd be interested in details of your 9-speed gearbox (...) (23 years ago, 27-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Mechanical Automatic Transmission

I made a three speed, fully mechanical, automatic transmission a few weeks ago, and put a description of it on a web page. It uses a locking differential to select the gears, and I've not seen that done in lego before. If you are interested, the URL (...) (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic) !!

  Re: Testers/Evaluators wanted

(...) Hi: I would like to be a tester. My email address is joev@frontiernet.net (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

  Testers/Evaluators wanted

I have two prototype/preproduction "devices" looking for a good home. 1. Generic RCX sensor adapter brick. This little 2x4 brick interfaces between the RCX sensor input and your own sensor design. It does all the hardwork, multiplexing the power and (...) (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Launcher?

Markus Matern has built an impressive throwing machine, see (URL)I'd like to know if anyone has ever built a Lego apparatus that launches (...) (23 years ago, 26-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Launcher?

Hi Greg, You can google "lego gun" to get info a couple of projects. Additionally, check out (URL) favourite, but his home page is donw). I realize it is not exactly what you are looking for, but it might help. Cheers, Miguel Agullo (URL) (23 years ago, 25-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Launcher?

(...) Never tried, but it might be worth experimenting with the shock absorbers. Put a few of them together on the job, with some kind of trigger, and I reckon you could get a fair bit of power. Especially the ones in the silver champion. But more (...) (23 years ago, 25-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: a question about the bionicle comics

(...) Yeah, I got one. I think it's an infected card. I don't really care, though, I don't collect the ccg cards. (23 years ago, 25-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle)

  Launcher?

I'd like to know if anyone has ever built a Lego apparatus that launches things. I am interested in any devices that can flig a weight of up to one pound about 6 inches in the air. If this has ever been done, I'd really like to know how. If it (...) (23 years ago, 24-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Straightening technic tubing?

Hello all, (...) tube (...) How about these technic bricks 1 x 2 with hole. You can put them thru these. Probably they will not end up straight but atleast not bend. Of course you have to leave it a couple of days to rest... Greetings Maico Arts (23 years ago, 24-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Straightening technic tubing?

One thing I would suggest trying (on a tube you can afford to loose!) is to put a piece of wire (or whatever) in the tube, and then put it in a sunny place for a day. Somewhere like a well lit window-sill. Allow it to cool by itself at the end of (...) (23 years ago, 23-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

a question about the bionicle comics

i know this is a little late to mention this but, when i got the 2nd bionicle comic, tucked away in it was a ccg card. any one else get a "free" card with thier comic? (23 years ago, 22-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle)

  Re: Straightening technic tubing?

(...) They are hollow, so you could insert a straigt wire of a more rigid material, maybe a thin type of knitting needle (the ones used for socks, pointed at both ends) Maybe it even helps to let a tube reinfored this way rest for a couple of days. (...) (23 years ago, 22-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Straightening technic tubing?

(...) and (...) and (...) Ok, here's what I do :-) You are correct in saying these things are almost never straight, in fact I think the key to their use is to assume that they will *never* be straight. Look at them as splines with the only means (...) (23 years ago, 22-Nov-01, to lugnet.technic)
