  Re: Site updated

(...) Well' I wouldn't consider my approach particulary scientific :-). I've fitted the 2 gear motors and it's a big improvement but not in the way you would expect. I repeated the pulling test and the transmisson gives in long before the motors do, (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Site updated

(...) I didn't carefully read the rest of this thread, so the following may be redundant. I've been collecting links to info about Technic motors. I too have been pondering the age-old question, "which motor is better?". Anyway, here are a bunch of (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Site updated

(...) Sorry, I think it was just something in my mail correspondence with him. He used to have the motors connected to an amp meter, to check for stalling and so on. He compared the power consumption of each motor type under various loads, and (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Wal Mart Promo

(...) I am with you mike, went to two different Wal-Mart's and called a third and no one had any clue what I was talking about. I even spoke to one stores general manager and she admitted to fielding several phone calls and walk in customers (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle)

  Re: LEGO in Washington Post

(...) well (...) "useless throwbot arms" That's exactly what Dave was saying not to do. Why destroy a piece when you can work around it? I didn't have to chop off any pieces from my Bionicle ball-joint arms; I incorporated them into the design. (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle, lugnet.build.mecha)

*NEW* Bionicle MOC's and Custom Mask MOC's

Bionicle fans, I've just posted at Brickshelf some new Bionicle MOC's and Custom Mask MOC's. A Few bits. Bionicle variant: Gali - Akaku variant. Equipped with Great Longbow and Trident arrows. Matuka variant: Nui -Rama Glacier variant. Found in the (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle)

  Re: LEGO in Washington Post

(...) I appreciate the nod, but I used absolutely no Buy-onicle parts whatsoever in my latest mecha. I used the ball and socket bits from C-3P0, and I used two ball bits that I chopped off the end of those useless throwbot arms. (Egad!) In a related (...)   Re: Site updated

(...) I think this is the ideal ratio, probably similar to the 1:5 gearing I used by using an 8 tooth onto 40 tooth gear which coincidentally fits into the same space as your pulleys. I found that using gears instead of pulleys made the compressor (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Beat Felber's New MOC

In case you haven't seen it yet, you've got to check out Beat Felber's new MOC, a Bucyrus Erie 1050B Stripping Shovel. (URL) on the models page down about mid-page) This thing's fantastic! Good job Beat, you certainly deserve CLSOTW. (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam) !

  Re: Site updated

(...) I think so too! I think it is generally better to use the ungeared motor for applications where you need a quickly spinning thingey. For the small compressor, I usually gear the ungeared motor down using a rubber band and the large pulley, and (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Help Me!

I cant get to Le-Koro! I walk in the tunnel from where it says LE-KORO and the tohunga are still digging! (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic.bionicle)

  Re: Site updated

(...) Excellent, we need some real science in this stuff for sure :-) My hunch is still that when geared down to the same rpm the ungeared motors deliver the greater torque, although admittedly I have never done a proper test to establish this. As (...) (23 years ago, 20-Aug-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: "wake one and you wake them all."(Onward to le-koro)

(...) I'm not quite certain *and* I think it's a hint about how to meet the Le-Kornans. You see it when you're leaving Le-Koro, and if you went up there and found nobody home and came back down to the forest floor to look for them, it might make you (...)   Re: LEGO in Washington Post

(...) Interesting rant Harvey, but I take offense to a couple of things you mention in it. (...) If their formula had continued to be a winning one throughout the '90s, Lego would have continued to use it. I prefer to look at it as 'they held on as (...)
