  Re: Micromotor slippage

I have not used the micromotors for any steering assemblies but the geared motors work very well. Using short, low power (and counted so to get back to center easily) pulses I've had no problems either moving or stationary. Getting them to fit into (...)   Re: Ideas for new sets?

(...) How about putting a rubber band in the groove of the pulley, and have the calipers grip opposide sides (ie accross a diameter)? Not as technically correct, but a lot more stopping power. Or use rubber bands on the calipers themselves? ROSCO (24 years ago, 31-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 2001 Model

I agree. I am not sure who coined the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but as my old QC instructor use to say, "if it ain't broke, how do we make it BETTER!" That should be the goal of every Lego fan. After all, this is how we learn and (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

How about ideas for new elements?

The threads discussing what new mechanical functions and what new sets we would like in Technic has got me thinking about elements that are logical progressions of existing ones but that don't exist. I often find myself after a version of the 3/4 (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Micromotor slippage

Hello all, So, how much load has anyone successfully placed on a micromotor? I used a micromotor to steer 2 tandem axles in one of my model of a sideloading container truck (see olivierg.50megs.com/...eering.htm for details). When the truck was (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Ideas for new sets?

(...) I've tried making such a system, and unless lego comes out with high-friction pads, there is no way to clamp down a 4x4 pulley hard enough to notice any braking action. The ratio between 4x4 pulley and big wheel is too great, plus us humans (...) (24 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.technic)
