  Re: Crab steering idea

(...) There's a couple of problems with that technique: The clutch gear has a lot of inherent backlash, which will make the steering not very responsive you have to make sure the wheels are centred when you switch the clutch to get back to straight (...)   Re: 8865 and 8475

(...) Once agian I made the mistake of using hte 'higher speed' one, just like the last robot event. IN the 8448 that was just fine, but these are bigger tyres and a heavier chassis, so it takes a little bit to get up to speed. You can barely see' (...)   Part number for old Technic piston?

I'm doing a cross-check on a part number. Can anyone confirm the number of the older, square Technic piston? Peeron shows the number for this part as 3652: (URL) shows the number as 3562: (URL) seems likely that the number on Technica is a typo, but (...)   Re: Crab steering idea

Ross- Looking at Nathan's crab design, I realized that the center steering mechanism resembles a differential. Realizing this I came up with a sketch (since that's all I'm able to do until I move into a house and open my legos) using a differential (...) (20 years ago, 28-Oct-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

  The Message

Hi all, Crossing Germany by car is very dangerous, since there are no speedlimits, and maximum speed of my car is rather limited - especially with 4 passengers and lots and lots of luggage (LEGO?). Before driving to Billund in August I built this to (...) (20 years ago, 28-Oct-04, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.technic, lugnet.build, lugnet.loc.de, FTX) !

  Re: Crab steering idea

(...) Yes, it does. It is all computer controlled though. Incidentally, Nathan's design can be used with 2 fixed steering wheels: reverse the rear steering bar, so that tilting the "steering column" now operates crab steering mode remove the knob on (...)   Re: Crab steering idea

Nathan- Thanks for showing how crab steering works. I also like how you designed it, but the fact that it doesn't have a fixed steering wheel bothered me, so I designed one which has. Also, I might impliment this in my realtime version of my crane (...) (20 years ago, 27-Oct-04, to lugnet.technic)

  8865 and 8475

So why did I want to get the hubs and the rubber to stick together on the old large Technic tyres? After a very successful 8448 and 8475 merge, and a mostly successful 8466 and 8475 merge, I decided to have another go at it. Thought about the 956 (...)   Re: Crab steering idea

(...) figure out the steering. This shows it clearly. My preference would be that turning the wheel would give 'normal' steering and tilting it would give 'crab' steering (it seems more intuitive, plus it would be much easier to judge when the 'crab (...)   Ferry 'Schulpengat': progress

Hullo! Just to report on my current project: a model of the Dutch roro-ferry 'Schulpengat'. Model specs: - I only (plan to :-}) have enough Lego to model the front part of the ferry... - has working Voith-schneider propellor, car-deck doors are (...) (20 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Here's a question...

Has anyone attempted to glue the hub to the rubber tyre on the original Technic large tyre or somehow make the tyre stay on the hub better? 3740 Black Tyre 24 x 43 Technic Just wondering... Dave K (20 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.technic)

Re: My tribute to my first Technic Set

(...) Just as an aside - if you have your set list entered on lugnet, or on Peeron, you can find out if you have the parts for the bulldozer: (URL) myself, I seem to have all the parts except the treads :) (20 years ago, 25-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.technic)

Re: My tribute to my first Technic Set

(...) Are you bringing these to the show? I'd like to see the bulldozer, having wanted one when i was a kid. I probably have all the parts to build one now, but that's not the same as having the actual set, and I'd like to see one that's together. (...)
