Re: pneumatic cylinder: why not hydraulic ??

Not alone thinked about it a while back, currently studing fliud power and in the fluid power industry (...) Lego pneumatic cannot be used for hydraulic's period! Nor will there be such a thing put out by lego there in the toy industry not heavy (...) (20 years ago, 8-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

Re: pneumatic cylinder: why not hydraulic ??

(...) Not necessarily. Assuming both cylinders are the same size, a full pump cylinder stroke will only result in a full working cylinder stroke if the working cylinder doesn't have significantly more resistance than the pump cylinder. If the (...) (20 years ago, 7-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

Re: pneumatic cylinder: why not hydraulic ??

(...) One key thing about hydraulics has always been "avoid leaks". To switch the fluid, just invent something I've wished for for years - the reverser switch. This switch has four ports, used in opposing pairs. Clockwise in a circle they would be (...) (20 years ago, 7-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: MStamp

(...) Yes, eventually that will happen. The tricky part is actually buying the stamp. :) I'm a little worried that the ink will drip out of the ink pad since it's inverted but I'll just have to cross that bridge when I get to it. As for the real (...) (20 years ago, 7-Apr-04, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, FTX)

(...) plan to replace the wheel and plate with a real ink stamp? This could definitely be used for real work! What about using a simple downward-acting, self-inking stamp? I have one of these for applying my return address on envelopes, and it's (...) (20 years ago, 7-Apr-04, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: pneumatic cylinder: why not hydraulic ??

(...) Well one solution to that problem is to position all the switches above a "hydraulic fluid catchment area", however I still think it would be prone to spillage ;) ROSCO (20 years ago, 6-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

Re: pneumatic cylinder: why not hydraulic ??

(...) The simplest reason is that when the switch is flipped to one side, the other port is released to the atmosphere. This means that your hydraulic fluid would spill all over the floor. Figure out how to eliminate the free release (hint, only (...) (20 years ago, 6-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

Re: pneumatic cylinder: why not hydraulic ??

(...) I can think of a few concerns that would need to be answered before using a pneumatic cylinder as a hydrolic cylinder: 1. will the seals work properly I'd be concerned that the lubricant would get washed away by water, so the only way to (...) (20 years ago, 6-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

pneumatic cylinder: why not hydraulic ??

Hi everybody, I' ve read a long time ago something like this: LEGO pneumatic cylinder cannot be use as hydraulic cylinder. Is anybody can explain me why ?? May be we can' t use water with cylinder (may be cause of corrosion) but what about silicone (...) (20 years ago, 6-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

(URL) Some of you guys have come up with ways to make nano-scale Moonbase modules, but I figured why stop there? Why not make them so they'll fit in with a standard Moonbase layout?   Left Over Crab

I found myself with quite a few leftovers after making a near-canonical combiner of three Toa Metru sets. Near-canonical because I substituted Whenua for Onewa.   Re: New MOC: Double Track Train Bridge

(...) I agree with Steve. HOG it! Besides, your MOC will have so many mechnical parts, eliminating the A-frame cylinders will make it more simple and your life easier, IMO. -TJ (20 years ago, 5-Apr-04, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Advice from crane builders (was: Blimey)
