My guesses again for 2001 sets. —Jason Fabisch
Last I counted, there were 14 SW related sets released for the 99 model year. This included about equal numbers Episode 1 and original trilogy. Then for the 2000 model year they have scheduled to released 15 sets(includes technic droids, and (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.starwars)

I think you're right on the money. I fear that they wont release a sandcrawler because it would have to be so scaled down. But the play value inherent in the assortment of droids necessarily included seems dead-on for a lego product. Likewise while (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: My guesses again for 2001 sets. —David Gowing
I think that a sandcrawler is a definate. I remember seeing a photograph of a prototype design in the UK lego Fan Club magazine in late 1998. It had loads of tan / brown blocks and, of course, tracks. It was labelled "The Designers Favourite (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jun-00, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) I thought Episode 2 was slated for release in summer 2001. If so, TLC will probably release 6 or 7 classic sets in November and the new Ep 2 sets (probably another 6 or 7) later in the year. They would therefore not make any more Episode 1 (...)      (...) To the best of my knowledge, Episode 2 won't be out until late May 2002, with Episode 3 being out in 2005. So, we still have a couple years before we'll see Episode 2 sets, plenty of time for more Episode 1 sets. -Bryan (24 years ago, 27-Jun-00, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) check out the Episode 2 facts section over at theforce.net (the link should be on lugnet.starwars) They state that a late 2001 release is possible, but it's more likely it will be late spring 2002.    (...) Sounds like a cool idea, but I bet the Droidekas would be made of a few highly specialized pieces, much like the Battle Droids.    (...) They wouldn't *have* to be out of specialized pieces. Not if the Futura geeks are as creative as Mr. Sproaticus. See (URL).
