I'm going to assume you mean me, not Christopher.

Hasbro's Action
Figures are completely different then Lego's mini figures. • <snip>
I
can not logically see how one could even attempt to compare the two,

Except, of course, that they are both Star Wars toys, and there is some
crossover in the lines.  There are many more casual collectors (who buy a few
things that relate to whatever they're collecting) than hardcore collectors
(who buy anything related to their hobby).

and If
Hasbro has any competition to be worrying about His name is McFarlene,

I'll assume you mean MacFarlane.  While I would agree that MacFarlane toys are
well sculpted, I really don't see how they stand to muscle in on the Star Wars
collectible market, since to my knowledge MacFarlane Toys doesn't have a
license to produce Star Wars toys.

I can also assure
you that Lego has no intentions of producing the number of different figures
as Hasbro has done.

I don't see what that has to do with anything.  I can also assure you there are
many casual collectors who only buy the major characters- why else was the
Darth Maul fig so hard to get in the weeks after the initial release of Episode
I toys?  The casual collector doesn't care about Gonk, or Aunt Beru, or the
Death Star Gunner.  They probably didn't get online to grab a B'Omarr Monk fig,
either.  They want Darth Vader, Luke, Obi-Wan, etc.

Lego's mini figs are meant to compliment the "building
toy" not become an entity all themselves.

That's one way Lego could choose to market them, and it's pretty much what
they've done so far.  But if they released any sort of minifig pack at all,
what would they be?

Sure, people are going to start a
"collection" of them -why not they are pretty cool, but to say that they would
"replace" the Hasbro/Kenner line is so far removed from any possibility

Well, once again, all I can do is say that as a casual collector, they did so
for me.  I would bet that marketed correctly, they could take a large chunk out
of Hasbro's market share.

that I
would venture to say that you are not a very informed or insightful ADULT
collector.

Uh, ok.

I have followed (specifically Star Wars) action figures for over 25
years.

Silly me, I've only been following Star Wars toys for 23 years, since they were
first released in 1977 (and even then, only barely).  I should have gotten in
before they were even conceived like you did, I guess, eh?

I would be more than willing to bet that if
figures cost $10 a peice, you would by them if they were new charcters which
really offered some neat charcteristics.

And you'd be wrong.

The last comment I have for you is GALOOB, why do you think that if someone
could by the Micro Machine versions of all of the ships why would anyone spend
4 times as much for the larger scaled version for the 3 3/4" Kenner line?

Because there are people out there (no one in this conversation, I'm sure) who
have a knee-jerk reaction to any toy with a Star Wars label:  Buy.  Buy.  Buy.

Not to mention that these are TOYS, for Pete's sake, and kids with the 3 3/4"
figs would like to have ships for them to fly, and playsets for them to
populate.

I
guess Hasbro/Kenner is so stupid because guess what? They bought out the
entire Galoob company, so I guess you would feel that they are now competing
with themselves -right?

Umm, no.  They eliminated the competition by absorbing them. Hasbro's market
share went up, because whichever you choose to buy- a Micro Machine or a Kenner
fig- Hasbro gets the cash.

Why would they do that if they thought Mini or Micro
produced items would only deter collectors from buying the Normal scaled
stuff.

I would think it would be pretty obvious to an informed, insightful ADULT
collector.

I would have to totally disagree with Christopher on this one! Hasbro's Action Figures are completely different then Lego's mini figures. The lego are somewhat comical, whereas, the Kenner line is meant to be more articulate, deatiled, and accurate (...) (24 years ago, 4-Apr-00, to lugnet.starwars)
