    Panaka is yellow? —Dave Lovelace
I'm sure the topic of race amongst mini-figures is an ancient one, but I just wanted to hear theories from the more informed AFOL's this time. I'm pretty sure TLG just wanted to circumvent any racial issues by making ALL the heads "yellow." There've (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Panaka is yellow? —Scott Edward Sanburn
Dave, (...) I think that the Flash Speeder minifig is not Panaka. In the movie, the flash speeder was used in the first moments of the seizure of the castle / government building, and he was not driving it, and that is what IMHO TLC (TLG, LG, LC) (...)          Re: Panaka is yellow? —Dave Lovelace
(...) Indeed, this would have been an easy way to circumvent racial issues, this particular time. Still, there are four thumbnail pictures from the movie towards the top of the instruction pages, and the human portrayed most clearly (in two of the (...)          Re: Panaka is yellow? —Eric Joslin
(...) I think you're right- that is a reasonable assumption to make. I don't think that's what Lego intended, however. All the Naboo Guards wear the same uniform, and Panaka is the most clearly photographed of the guards in the movie. The stills of (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) I have heard similar rumours (and they must be rumours, because apparently the script hasn't even been written yet), but I was trying to couch it in terms that were relatively spoiler-free, so as to make the post friendly to folks who don't (...)          Minifig Colour Precedents? (Was: Re: Panaka is yellow?) —Lindsay Frederick Braun
Hi, (...) This is an issue that came up with Fisher-Price over the "Little People" line back in the 1970s. Everyone had hitherto been a generic Caucasian-hue, and then Fisher-Price made a licensing deal with CTW to make Sesame Street sets. The (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Panaka is yellow? —Eric Kingsley
(...) I really think that what you have written hear gets to the root of the problem. For one I agree with you that it would be nice to get some sort of offical stance from LEGO regarding the issue but beyond that I think there are some very (...)          Re: Panaka is yellow? —Christopher Lannan
(...) This (...) It does not say his name in the instruction book so I think officially it is not supposed to be him. I think a yellow Lando would be just fine- it's not like caucasian folks are yellow either. Chris (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Panaka is yellow? —James Simpson
(...) EXACTLY!!!!! Nobody has truly yellow skin, and that is the point. Sure, we could go to tan (which might look cool), but that is more likely to offend than generic yellow. Quite frankly, I'd prefer to avoid the whole race issue in my Lego (...) (25 years ago, 22-Dec-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Panaka is yellow? —Dave Schuler
(...) So would we all, if Lego hadn't already opened themselves up to this sort of probing. The hieroglyphics on a number of Adventurers sets clearly show the Ancients with dark brown skin, so we can't just pretend that Lego has no opinion on the (...) This was, in part, the reason I was given at Consumer Affairs (admittedly, a loose theory by the rep I was talking to) as to why female minifig heads came so late, comparatively. (It (...)         Re: Panaka is yellow? —John Green
It's clearly NOT Panaka for two reasons: 1. It would say PANAKA under the figure and 2. If it was Panaka, he would have BLUE arms and probably even blue legs (with maybe boots painted on like the tatooine lego luke). If anyone has the SW:I visual (...)
