  Lando poll

I've put up a new poll to see whether the LUGNET community would rather see a Lando minifig made in brown or yellow: (URL) Rev. Brendan Powell Smith (22 years ago, 4-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.build.minifigs)

  Re: Lando poll

Should be interesting to see if they break with their tradition on the upcoming NBA sets. Since it was brought to light that they will be producing minifigs in "the likeness" of individual NBA players, it seems pretty clear to me that we are about (...)   Re: Lando poll

I remember reading an article in which someone from TLC stated that minifigs head were all yellow so there would never be any racist discrimination with the products, yellow representing a neutral color, even if most of us seem to think that yellow (...)   Re: Lando poll

(...) That isn't really my opinion. I think the whole issue could be treated just the same as the 'stubbies' (short legs) thing. Before the 2002 sets, all 'figs were the same height. But it was too much of a stretch to represent ewoks, yoda, goblins (...) (22 years ago, 5-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

(...) When TLC first annouced the Star Wars license I was hoping they would make the characters realistic flesh tones. As they chose to make all the (human) characters so far, in standard bright yellow (which is NOT a human color at all,) then why (...) (22 years ago, 5-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

(...) Whether they intended yellow as the final color way back when, keeping yellow could be serendipitous to underscore 'togetherness' as they described in the nba press release. Jeff (22 years ago, 5-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

I don't usually like to get involved in these sorts of debates (anymore... though I used to) But this post had a comment or two that caught my eye. (...) Speaking only for myself, I always thought of the yellow color as simply the color in which (...) (22 years ago, 5-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

Lenny Hoffman brought up an interesting observation back in February, which is that outside of LEGO, sometimes the color yellow is indeed intended to signify caucasian skin tones. His example was the TV show The Simpsons. Light skinned chracters (...) (22 years ago, 6-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

(...) Wow.. and I never knew anyone cared... but to add something: yellow (like in the Simpsons) only denotes 'lighter skin tones', which includes not only caucasians, but also japanese, native americans, etc. The benefit to this point of view is (...) (22 years ago, 6-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

(...) I think that might be a good choice... I mean, NOONE has a yellow fleshtone NOR a red one (although once that night have been said). So this colour might solve the problem in a convenient way: it is close enough to brown, just like yellow is (...) (22 years ago, 6-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

(...) Great points Leonard!!! I agree that the "endless shades" issue can be as EASILY addressed in just TWO shades. Light and dark. Simple as that... (Yellow and Brown....) I have been ranting about this in the NBA forum as of late... I seem to (...) (22 years ago, 7-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

(...) Tommy, Chewbacca, the Ewoks, and the new PIG figure (coming in Jabba's Palace sets) are all non-yellow but this is becuase they are all non-human! So I do not think you can compare those figs to with the lando issue. We must remember one (...) (22 years ago, 7-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

I just want to say this: When I saw the comic by Greg Hyland (sp?) on (URL) I saw Lando. My non-discriminatory imagination saw Lando. Lego is an imaginitive toy - imagine whatever you want and it will come true. Lego is right to have a one color (...) (22 years ago, 7-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

I would agree with Pedro in that this should be looked at as a skintone issue, not a race issue. As analogy: Before LEGO made an Episode 2 Anakin minifig, they never made minifigs with orangey-brown hair. Before that, you had to choose red or brown (...)   Re: Lando poll

(...) I take it you're against ewoks with short legs for the same reasons? And incidentally, we have non-yellow 'figs, and my imagination still seems to be in perfect working order. (...) I'm hoping that fig comes up in a cheaper (or better) 2003 (...) (22 years ago, 7-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

(...) Michael you are MISSING the point. The Ewoks are NOT HUMAN and as such TLC has expanded it's policy of yellow all the same size minifigs for humans but non-humans can be different. So ewoks can be brown and the pig in Jabba's palace can be (...) (22 years ago, 9-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Lando poll

(...) Hum.. Vader is more machine than human. His consumption of the dark side made him lose his humanity. Sure Luke helps him regain it but that is later on. Even if YOU say it is not a rqcial issue it WILL BECOME one. TLC does not want to step (...) (22 years ago, 9-Oct-02, to lugnet.starwars)
