Out of curiosity, where did you go for stats and measurements? I think I got
mine off the Essential Guide to Vehicles & Vessels, as well as blueprints
for the Hoth base, wherein hanger 'cells' were carved especially to fit
X-wings...

Nowhere, really.  I had the Incredible Cross-section book, looked at the
X-Wing from all angles in Rogue Leader, and the experience from building a
UCS X-Wing (which I don't like-and no I don't own it).

Coincidentally, I was amazed to find a picture in the Art Of Star Wars that
was almost *perfectly* in minifig scale once I had the initial measurements.
(Based on about 7mm = 1 minifig foot) IIRC each wing on my design was 1 stud
wider than Mark's, but I forget how many studs long mine was...

Hmmm...I'm quite sure my entire X-Wing is almost perfect except for the
cockpit.  With mini-figs, it can't be perfect, you gotta take a hit
somewhere.  I'm happy with this model, just about everything is to scale and
shaped right compared to everything else.  C'mon...if we wanted perfect
models we'd just buy the toys or model kits.

Yeah, that was one of the things that intreuged me about your model-- I
barely had room for a forward landing gear in mine (I left out the proton
torpedos, though I put black plates on the side from where they shoot from
to indicate the holes... oh well)

Hmmm...I'd like to see pics if they exist (point me).  I thought the gear
was actually pretty easy; just have a 1xX plate extend on the inside of the
fuselage from the front nose point, right in the middle.  There were a few
hurdles but I've experienced worse...as I predicted, I got to it and figured
out working gear for this new version too.
How to I make a snowspeeder in which the figs sit back to back and
the middle fuselage doesn't extend beyond the wings?!  Well!  *I* asked
these questions, anyway, so back off!)

Snowspeeders are *tough*. They're actually about as wide as a *WING* of the
X-wing. I think I got that they "should" be about 12 studs long and 11 studs
wide... (I think you could go as wide as 14x13 and not be horribly out of
scale-- makes your average minifig about 5' tall instead of 6'). The version
I did at 12x11 could fit a single minifig with no arms :(

Ack-I don't have that type of blind scale loyalty.  I build really on how
mini-figs will work with it.  My old X-Wings were great for that...landing
gear worked great, Targeting Computer, tons of computer slopes and tiles
inside, space in the back to hold targeting computer, roomy cockpit, etc.
For the accuracy I have sacrificed a roomy cockpit, the targeting computer,
a storage space in back...but this new X-Wing still keeps that stuff
important to an extent; this one holds a proton torpedo, and if it didn't,
it could look a little more accurate :) I didn't like the UCS X-Wing because
it didn't work with mini-figs and it didn't look nice.  To me, it was just
$150 in dead weight until you scalped it for pieces.  Not only is it not
compatible with the rest of my Star Wars fleet , but it's ugly to look at
too!  If Lego doesn't translate to "dirty" very well and they want a new
clean white X-Wing, don't toss a bunch of blue, green, yellow, and tan in
like it was in a paintblaster fight.
