According to the "Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels" (EGVV), the Y-Wing

Again, from the EGVV, it is the Imperial All Terrain Personal Transport.
Experimental 1-man walker designed by the _Old_ Republic.
3 meters tall. Concepts of its construction later used by the Empire in the
construction of AT-AT's and AT-ST's. Armed with a twin blaster cannon and a
concussion grenade launcher.
