Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
Howdy Folks, My entry for the civvie dealio. So many amazing entries so far...I think this is one of the most profilific and productive contests yet! Great stuff all! (URL) My first shot at a larger MOC. Please..let me know what you think and where (...) (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX) !!

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Jean-Pascal Rignault
Improvements? You're asking for improvement ideas? Don't be so humble, this utilitarian ship is perfect! Obviously we have a winner for the Civilian MOC Contest. I like the color scheme, the huge playability / functionalities, the landing gears, the (...) (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Too kind, sir! Heh...this one is kinda a mix of an attempt to do semi serious sci-fi design ( a la Alien), but infuse a little of the fun of a playable set. Perhaps kids would like it? Garbage Pirates!! Yay! Okay...mebbe not. :) Thanks again, (...) (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Peer Kreuger
(...) I hate you. I hate you like a very hatey thing of hateyness. Normally, I don't like to comment without mentioning things that can be improved... but here, I can't find any. Colorscheme rocks. Credible means of transportation. Playability (...) (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Ah the language of hate...is there anything more beautiful? :) Thank you sir...all those things you mention are happily lifted from many of the great stuff others have done...finally got a chance to try it out myself! Cheers, -G (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Philip Painter
(...) Wow, this is great! The little hover-thing-a-ma-jig makes it—classic LEGO vehicle in a vehicle playability. This would make a fantastic set. TLC should be paying attention. Great build, Gil. Thanks for sharing. (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Tanx mang! I was really dreading the hover-shunt...at first was going to be a mech that did it, but I suffer from accute mechsuck. The little guy just sorta came together... and it's what I play with...um....'study' the most. Cheers, -G (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Chris Giddens
(...) Dang boy... wait till the last minute and whip out a honkin' MOC why dontcha? Man. It rocks... it's such a pretty... garbage.. spaceship... I'm totally amazed at the functionality and modularity. I can't stop looking at it... I'm HIPMOTIZED! (...) (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Heheh..thanks man. Trust me... could build about 50 these and still not be getting close to the monumental achievement of the Vanguard. THAT is my goal sometime....a first small step. Break that block...smash it...wreck it!! -G (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Adrian Drake
(...) That's some tasty spacey goodness right there. I love the little things it can do. Looks like so much fun to play with! Well done Adrian (URL) (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Thank ye! I'd like to think if I had something like this as a kid, it would keep me entertained for a month of Saturday morning and a legion of Pop Tarts. Boy I'm old. Cheers, -G (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Daniel Rubin
(...) snip (...) I am overwhelmed. Everytime I look at a pic, I get the sense that there is too much detail to take in at once. Awesome accomplishment, and I really hope to see this thing at Brickfest. -Dan Rubin (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Thanks Dan! I wish it could see you at Brickfest this year too! Sadly, a change of plans has both it and me parked in the humid depths of southern Canada come August. Cheers, -G (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Ley Ward
(...) Yowza! I never thought I'd be so excited about a 'garbage truck', but being blown away by one thing or another here on Lugnet is something I've become used to on an almost daily basis... As for what those other guys said; me too! Excellent (...) (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Sweet....good marks from the Prof! I'm so pleased to hear 'playability' being a reoccuring comment on this one. Lately I have been obsessed pouring over the old Space and Town catalogue models from the late 80's, early 90's. They are so much (...) (20 years ago, 30-Jun-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Kyle Vrieze
(...) snip (...) Gil, I would say the RPC has Palmer-esque visual appeal. The combination of the greebs, functional details and color scheme hits that sweet spot that the best builders on Lugnet are known for. Reminds me of some of Mladen's and (...)          Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Thanks! Comparison to Jon's stuff is some of the best compliments a feller can get. Interesting you mention the horizontal plane...I was thinking of that after I finished it, thinking that on profile it looks pretty flat. I toyed with the idea (...)         Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Keith Goldman
(...) This is the coolest moc I've seen in a while, civilian or not. I wouldn't change a thing. It looks good from every angle, and has such great details like the central tanks, the dock for the hover-chair-tug thing, the bumpers, and the driver (...)          Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Tanx mang! A more interesting face....oh if I had a nickle every time that was suggested to me IRL, I could buy and sell all your mothers like so much chattle. Since seeing the containers on the Ghoul, I've been itchin to do a ship that used (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jul-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Allister McLaren
(...) Gil, you're a legend. Leave it 'til the last second and then boom! you hit us with this. Seems to me there's going to have to be a garbage handling category in the comp. That's gotta make three or four entries in the 'theme'. Nice work on (...) (20 years ago, 1-Jul-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Thanks! I wish I could say the timing was planned for dramatic effect, but it was getting my thrusters in gear to finish it! I was thinking the same with the garbarge theme....I'd love to have some sort of moonbase processing plant that could (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jul-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Joe Meno
(...) Well, I won't say what everyone else is saying...that would be repetitive! No, I will say this: a) This is really well thought out on all levels - the support craft all make sense and work with each other. b) The darn thing is asymmetrical, (...)          Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Thanks Joe! It's funny...normally I'm a planning, sketching freakazoid with MOCs, but this one just sort grew. I had been getting to the point where I wasn't building because it was becoming 'work'. After talking to some of our usual chat (...) (20 years ago, 2-Jul-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Matthew Krotzer
(...) Gil, amazing work. I've been gone for a while, but its nice to come back and see a familiar name with the quality I've come to expect when visiting .space Captain Krotzer, The Unknown Division (URL) (20 years ago, 1-Jul-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Brian P. Gefrich
(...) Gil, This is stunning. The inspirational value alone is great. I had reached a dead end on my entry for this and never finished it, but there are so many great ideas here that I have to go back and work some more on it now. Playability is one (...)          Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) Apologies Brian...didn't see this until today. Yep...I've been droning on endlessly for a bit now about wanting to incorporate more play value into my building and this was my first real attempt at it. Thanks for the kind words! -G (20 years ago, 8-Jul-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Nick Kappatos
(...) The modularity in the baby is too cool for words. The only drawback is that if this were ever released as a set, it would inspire a whole generation of children to grow up to be garbagemen! -nk (20 years ago, 2-Jul-04, to lugnet.space)

Re: Civilian MOC Contest Entry —Gil Shaw
(...) And that's a drawback??! Think of all the free stuff...matresses....partially used grapefruits...the possiblities! Tanx kindly, Nick. -G (20 years ago, 8-Jul-04, to lugnet.space)
