Re: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

Truly excellent work!!! "2001: A Space Odyssey" is one of my favorite all time movies--sci-fi or otherwise--so I know I'm probably a bit biased. But still, as Lego MOC's go I have to say that this is one of the best scale movie models that I've ever (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

(...) Jason, From the preview you gave a while back with the pod, I had high hopes for this MOC - and you shattered them. This is an excellent piece of work, which showcases the medium and displays the versatility of square pieces creating curved (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

(...) Thanks! You're absolutely right. To be honest it was absolutely ridiculous how much time I spent trying to get things just right on the reactor. The spine sections are a whole other story. The initial design for them was one of the first (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Honestly I don't think it's any different from when you guys last saw it. :) I think the only thing I had left to do after that was some minor detail work and swaping out some yellow hinges for black ones I was waiting (...) (...) Thanks Kevin! Here are some details on what I usually do... Setup: Here's a (URL) of my usual photography setup. I used to use a long piece of heavy paper from a (very) large printer but I find the bed sheet is much easier to work with. Due to (...)   Re: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

Well done, Jason. It's great to see the old 'dog-bone' in LEGO. It's been a very very long time since I've seen the movie, but one glimpse brought a rush of recognition and nostalgia. I especially like the way you've integrated the saucer pieces (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

(...) As as lover of all things Arthur C Clarke (I own 2001 on VHS and I have read all 4 books in the series and a bunch more Clarke besides), I gotta say that this is way cool. And as a lover of lego, I gotta say that this is way cool :) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: That old set FEELING...

(...) Same here, I have not a huge deal of interest in the Galaxy Explorer (although I do own one of each of the 3 LLxxx printed bricks that I picked up from a seller). My big interest is in getting a 6983 Ice Station Odyssey so I can be Ice Planet (...) (22 years ago, 28-Mar-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.town)

Hi Jason Fantastic - that's all there is to say really! I am very impressed.
