Ridley Scott is the master of mood in BR...the dismal feel of the perceived
future is so effectively meshed with the hardboiled det. fiction/ film noir
atmosphere. Throw in the Vangelis on the soundtrack, and the thing just
drips mood.
I remember reading an interview with Scott and he said that he was in no way
attempting to create the noir sci-fi genre at all, to the point where he
found such laudations to be a betrayal of the film's intent. Odd to hear an
artist downplay the very thing that makes his work so revolutionary.
That DVD sounds awesome...would like to get the original with Decker's voice
over.
Cheers,
