Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase

(...) It's not about topping the next cool MOC that comes around, it's about building something that you're happy with. (...) That would be quite a trick. The geometry of Lego technic, at least the new pieces, is pretty limited. Now if you used the (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase

(...) Thanks. I really liked the way the color scheme worked out. I figured the best way to emphasize the green glass was to pick some nice complimentary colors and go light on the details. I guess it worked. Thanks for helping with the inspiration, (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase

(...) Because the outside was left relatively clean, I packed the inside with as much detail as I could. So the detail's all there, still. As for the roof, the frame is attached above each window with a 1x2 technic axle. I can remove some or all of (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) It's not a club without a good sound system, right? Unfortunately, they point right down the moonbase corridors, so you can imagine what the noise was like for the neighbors before the sound shields were put up :) The architectural concept for (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase

(...) It used to be that saying that a raytraced image looks real was a great compliment. Now, with the quality of raytracing these days, the opposite is true. You should get that dislocated jaw looked at :) Thanks Adrian -- (URL) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Idea: small hatch

I look forward to seeing it in a MOC - I certainly have no use to put it to right now. Cheers, Allister (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) not top that. I seriously got the 'bug-willies' and screamed some profanity at my monitor when the first pic loaded. The structure reminds of crazy sphere building like the Epcot Center and I bet using the physics from this someone could (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

  Idea: small hatch

Inspired by the trav-hatch (tm) and the way Tony Hafner connected the droid arms to the clips in his bots, I was looking at a 4x4 radar dish thinking it'd make a nice small hatch. I'm sure this could be adapted for horizontal use too. Anyway, (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase

(...) The green and black compliment the trans-green nicely. And the club idea is perfect, as well. I can't wait to see it in person someday! Derek (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase

Boy, you've really raised the bar on this one Adrian. This takes the moonbase beyond mere Lego models into pure Art. In a way I miss all the external activity you've put in your other modules, but in this one they'd only distract me from the pure (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: Mini 6950 Mobile Rocket Transport

I've just grouped my replies into one post: Adrian: Thanks for the comments! Yes, the rocket is a bit big compared to the transport. The rocket is very nearly half scale, while the transport is somewhere between 1:2 and 1:3 scale, depending on what (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) ...WOOOWOWWWWWW! That's beautiful!!! Duuuuddddeee! At first glance, I thought it was ray-traced with MegaPOV because of the trans-green. But you actually used trans-green that way! All right! --Todd (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

It's time to party at the Moonbase

Everyone at the Moonbase has to go somewhere to relax and party, right? The genesis of this project was at Brickswest 2003, where Derek Schin and I were hanging out at the Maniac shop, messing around with the parts bins. There were a bunch of those (...)
