I had a similar problem and suggested used the three cable method you mentioned with great success. Before I tried this I sent an inquiry to Dacta and got this response "There is an issue with some Macintosh serial ports that we are currently (...) I'm kicking around the idea of building a Mindstorm's based entry for the Trinity College Fire-Fighting Home Robot Contest (see (URL) ). (...) Yes, you are correct - 11 bits total per byte. And yes, this is very non-standard. I believe the signal is inverted - meaning that IR light is present for "0" bits, and no light for "1" bits. hi Zhengrong, Sorry, I didn't understand (or read) your message well, I thought you were looking for communicating with a PC. I don't think collision detection will be possible since the hardware/firmware does a checksum (at least in lego firmware), and no message is provided to the VM software (LASM), this prevents ACK/NAK protocols working. I started this project because I like pbForth, but having no previous experience about coding in Forth I felt the need of a comfortable environment where to test and debug my programs. I don't think my first post succeeded, so here it is again. Sorry if you've already seen this. (...) wander around the house until it finds another 'bot. Then it would relay the message to that 'bot. Hello Has anybody encountered problems using the LNP integrity API, when many frames/s are received? We are working with a image recognition system on a Linux machine that computes the position of robots and sends an integrity packet of 18bytes (...) Here it is, it is working, but is waiting for IR_MODE_HI, STOP and a non-blocking EMIT. There is a light sensor on the centre connector pad. .dp displays proximity in the LCD as DEFCON.RawLight alternating with the average ambient raw light sensor (...) Shutting down the GUI and starting it back up has no effect, pbForth continues to respond correctly. Adding words to the dictionary doesn't seem to make any difference either. Regarding the IR protocol, I have elsewhere suggested the following simple low-level format: 1 start, 1 stop, 2400 baud, odd parity 55 f0 f0 L ~L D1 ~D1 .. Dn ~Dn C ~C L is number of data bytes, valid range 1..255, less depending on buffer sizes Dx (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jun-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos, lugnet.robotics)

Hello all, after playing a bit with Manuel's application, I ended with a console Win32 application to send/receive LNP messages. It's more simple and ready to be used in combination with other applications. However, it doesn't use overalapped I/O (...) (24 years ago, 2-May-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)
