| | RE: IR Problems
| Elizabeth is quite right. It's easy to get collisions on the IR "bus" if two devices are sending (or replying) simultaneously. What I've done in the past with two RCXs is define one RCX as primary that is periodically (every 100 to 250 milliseconds (...) (18 years ago, 2-Apr-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Re: Curious problem with download
| I wanted to follow-up on my first message with more information in the hopes someone can help. I have been having problems with downloading to my RCX. I started trying NQC on a mac and this did not work. I then ported NQC to Solaris and had some (...) (25 years ago, 31-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| | Re: RF Connection To RCX
| One way to accomplish this is to use wireless serial devices. These RF devices allows one to hook up ANY serial device wireless. I have seen some listed on ebay for about $100+. The setup is as follows: PC--> serial transmitter serial receiver-->IR (...) (24 years ago, 26-Jul-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | RCX as a PGP engine
| So I'm a bit behind on my reading list and I'm finally working through Steven Levy's fascinating book "Crypto" on the history and development of Public Key Incription and such. Great stuff. I was just thinking, would the RCX be able to implement a (...) (23 years ago, 23-Feb-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

This file is downloaded to slot 5 when you start the software in your VC program. (...) There a are two ways to do this (...) (24 years ago, 18-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Re: Transmitting a message from the RCX to the PC
| (...) This is a good technique for addressing messages to an individual RCX, and I've used it myself on many occasions. In this case, it is your RCX or NQC program on the 'bot that is "responding" or "not responding" either by taking action or (...) (21 years ago, 23-May-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | Electrical Data Link between 2 RCXs
| The following describes an "electrical data link" (one direction) between 2 RCXs (see also my subject "Connecting 2 RCXs"). The task is that one RCX sends a number (e.g. a status) to another RCX via a cable. The IR link cannot be used because they (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| | Re: IR communication PC <-> brick with NQC

| (...) The RCX uses a special packet protocol which involes a lot of binary (non-ASCII) bytes, so controlling it with Hyperterminal won't work very well. Your best bet is to either write your own code to send the packets of the serial port or just (...) (24 years ago, 20-May-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

| I recently inherited an RCX 1.0, a serial IR tower and a few motors from a gracious friend. After many headaches, I finally got legOS 0.2.5 running on RH 7.1 and am able to compile and DL programs to the RCX. There is one odd thing, however - of the (...) | | Re: Automatic RCX Battery Recharging

| | Re: Blocking IR
| Regarding your program. Try sending 0s, not xs, i.e.: char *buffer = "\0\0\0\0\0"; Zeros are coded with the IR on 91% of the time, while xs are coded with the IR on only 45% of the time, neglecting the modulation, which cuts that all down by half.
