Yes, the object is to have the RCX robot monitor its own battery charge
(something available to the RCX firmware, and lejos, etc..) and then when it
is consistently low to drive up to some sort of home made charging station
and get a boost. The voltage level fluctuates a lot if the motors are in
use, so if it wanted to check for a low charge in the batteries it would
need to stop all motors and test. Andreas proposed this idea so he could
have a robot wander around 24/7 - at least in theory. The other half of the
problem is getting the robot to dock with the charger, but it might be
possible using the IR tower as a beacon.
Stef, reflex loading sounds like an excellent, fast way to attempt this.
p.s. Its fine to use the image for your RCX simulator.
