| Is there any way to zoom into the icons in robolab, they are a bit tiny and I wanted to know if I could make them look bigger so its easier to see. | (...) The brick version doesn't really mean a lot (other than that version 1.0 bricks had the external power jack). If you download the firmware from the 2.0 SDK then your 1.5 brick is an RCX 2.0 and it will work perfectly well with NQC, BricxCC (...) (22 years ago, 22-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| The basic difference between PCs/PalmPilots/WinCE IR ports and the RCX is a different physical transmission/modulation protocol. In the PC etc case the commonly used format is described by the IrDa standard (www.irda.org) where seperate IR pulses (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| In a semi-followup to Steve's earlier "remote battery tester"... While the standard firmware provides almost no way to get bytes into the RCX (other than "Message()", one byte at a time), it can certainly export them ("SendSerial"). And it occured (...) | I don't think so - I seem to remember seeing this somewhere before, built with a humble RCX 1.0/5. Actually, if you look closely, you'll see it contains 2 RCXs, one below the other on an angle. | Yes it is slow, if you count 1/2 a second slow, but not horrible. The big problem comes with control. Finding neutral again. NQC to the rescue. | My lego software (as supplied with RIS 1.5) won't download programs to my RCX. Firmware downloads, settings can be changed, but programs fail. My programs fail, lego's own programs fail. They fail with the original firmware and with teh newer (...) (23 years ago, 7-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| Rich, I originally thought that the free upgrade was a software only upgrade. I thought that's what I saw on the MindStorms web site several months ago.
