RIS 2.0 or 1.5 (minimum requirements)

I am going to buy the RIS 2.0, but I am not quite sure if I should better buy the RIS 1.5. That is, because my notebook (366 Mhz PII, 64 MB RAM, but only 2.5 MB Video RAM) does not fully meet the minimum requirements as stated by LEGO (what is (...)   RE: Palm and pbForth

(...) Yes, this is very easy to do. I'd have to change the GUI I supply too, but that would not be too bad... (...) It's not pbForth that's the problem, it's the host-side software that I need to update to use the USB tower. (...) The RCX does not (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

  RE: Palm and pbForth

(...) Well, for starters, the RCX uses a different modulation scheme on the IR port, but these guys have a C solution... (URL) You'll need a Palm SDK and some patience. Is there any or some interest in getting this for the Palm? I'm having trouble (...) (23 years ago, 5-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

  Re: What happened to Spirit.ocx?

(...) Hi Kenny, Spirit.ocx can only be used with the serial tower. RIS 2.0 contains a USB-tower, so spirit.ocx doesn't work anymore. Have a look at this message. (URL) a replacement for spirit.ocx is announced. Regards, Rainer (22 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: Apparent 'time-out'

The GUI version is 2.1.0. The pbForth version (COLD) is 2.1.2. I am using the USB tower with RIS 2.0. Once the RCX stops responding, if I pull out a battery and re-upload the firmware, the RCX will respond again to the same GUI session. In other (...)   Interactive communication with the RCX

I have recently discussed with Kekoa an interesting issue that apparently received scarce attention in the past. I'm trying to have interactive communication between the computer and the RCX through IR connected to an USB port: sendind commands from (...) (22 years ago, 24-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  RIS parts questions

I have a RIS 2.0 Other than changes to the RCX brick, software, documentation/manuals/etc & IR tower, what parts would I need to obtain to have the equivilant of a RIS 1.5? What about a 1.0? (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Hi Jenny and all other Mac users, I 've got no problems with my PowerBook G3/400 and the usb tower running MacNQC 3.0a4. I don't know if anyone must know that my Mac works with MacOS 9.2.2. (...) To be precise, there is one additional part, it's an additional long clear thick optical fiber. I think it's intended to connect some VLL bricks to the USB tower.   Re: What about this for a new RCX 2.5 setup?

(...) What might be doable and best is a documented bus extension (a card plug-in) slot. This could be taken to the extreme by making a cpu unit that just has power (plug-in option of course) and memory (expandable of course) and maybe the IR or (...) I have a Mindstorms 1.0 set. When the 1.5 upgrade came out, I purchased it. I see that the 2.0 upgrade is out.   RE: What about this for a new RCX 2.5 setup?

I'd be happy with a good "official" LEGO SONAR sensor and a fixed version of the LEGO Rotation Sensor (without the lost "clicks" bug) On the RCX side, I'd like a RCX 3.0 with 6+ sensor inputs and more outputs (and more RAM.
