| | Re: legOS on Mac OS X
|
| (...) You mean USB on Mac OS X, or the USB tower specifically on any platform? You are really screwed if you need a serial driver on OS X. Since no serial hardware exists on post-98 Apple machines, OS X omits the legacy serial driver APIs. USB is (...) (23 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

| (...) I just booted into windows, and the tower was working fine, so i downloaded the LEGO firmware. Now that I'm back in Linux, the tower seems to be fine. Go figure. Maybe there was another linux app that had the serial port open, and it was (...) (23 years ago, 2-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

| | Re: Mindstroms 2.0 and NT
|
| (...) I have installed it with no problem on Win2K. Do you have a full RIS 2.0 with the USB tower? If so, you are probably out of luck for NT. I've heard you can by the serial tower from pitsco-dacta, which should allow you to use NQC on NT fine. (23 years ago, 12-Nov-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| | firmdl3 error - bad ir link
|
| Hi- Recently, I've been getting the "bad ir link" error from firmdl3. I can't figure out what's wrong - I've tried new batteries, different lighting conditions, near/far mode, slow/fast. I hope I haven't fried my tower - could someone please tell me (...) (23 years ago, 2-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

| | Re: legOS on Mac OS X

| (...) I was able to get NQC working with the USB tower under Mac OS X pretty easily. IMHO, support for an application to directly access USB devices is pretty good. If anyone is trying this, feel free to grab the OSX/USB code I wrote for NQC (...) (23 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

| Bret Thaler <BThaeler@aol.com> has written a driver for using the Lego USB tower under Linux, and he asked me to post this link to lugnet: (URL) haven't downloaded or tried the driver myself (no Linux boxes), so I can't say how well it works and if (...) | | I need to borrow a USB Tower.
|
| I don't post to these groups very often, being mostly a lurker, but I am attempting to make a contribution to the world of lego robotics. I am working on what will be an open source version of the spirit.ocx. In fact it's been available as an alpha (...) (23 years ago, 21-Dec-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| Dan, I had the same problem with a newly purchased RCX - turned out to be the tower. I rang Lego support, they did some trouble-shooting and finally told me to take it back and get a replacement. I managed to change the whole set, so I can't say for (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)
