  Re: MacNQC and RCX Troubles

(...) Bob, What type of Mac is it ? I have an original RIS 1.0. My Mac PB-G3 (wallstreet) is unable to key up the IR tower at all, but an old SE/30 works just fine. I think there are subtle differences in the voltages on Mac serial ports between (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

Re: No CD with my new RIS 1.5

You'll be waiting quite a while I'm afraid. I just got my RCX about 4 weeks ago and am running Win2k, of course the included software doesn't work on Win2k. actually, it only works on Win98 and 95, and not always then. I sent a message to support, (...) (24 years ago, 18-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Anyone using Mac beige G3

Hi all, I having trouble connecting a PowerMac G3 (beige model, 233MHz) to the IR tower. I've tried NQC, MacNQC but keep getting "Error: no response from IR tower". I've also tried ZTerm to see if I can get an echo back. The Green LED in the tower (...) (24 years ago, 1-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  MacNQC and RCX Troubles

I just got RIS1.0 and can't seem to get the RCX to respond using MacNQC or RCX Command Center running under Virtual PC 3.0. My cabling seems ok (using Palm 3 mac serial port adapter) as the green light on the IR tower comes on whenever I send a (...) (24 years ago, 28-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) The serial ports weren't changed in a major way (still RS-422, etc), but there could have been subtle changes to the driver/receiver that would cause problems when hooked to marginal RS-232 devices (such as the IR tower).   Using the serial port of an NCD terminal.

Hello legOS fans, I have written a hack to make it possible to connect the IR tower to a NCD terminal. Here at university we are using those fan less terminals, while the servers are in another room. A NCD has a serial port, that is accessible via (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  RE: OmniRemote and Mindstorms Update

(...) No, it's way simpler than that. The text files on the Palm are source code for Quartus Forth on the Palm. The idea is that the *same* source gets sent to the RCX via the IR link - you can do it now with a serial link, a terminal emulator, and (...)   IR Tower Use

I know this may be a bit off topic, but didn't know where else to post, I own an IR tower and remote control, and was wondering if it is possible to use the IR tower for other things. eg using PC + tower to control stereo/TV, or using IR remote to (...) (...) I suppose the obvious question is: Have you checked the batteries in both the RCS and the IR tower? And I do mean have you CHECKED the batteries - never assume that a "new" battery right out of the package hasn't been sitting on a store shelf (...)   Dead IR Tower

Well, after months of flaky IR comms between my tower and the RCX, I can finally say that the tower has died. :-( I've forgotten who first suggested it, but using a videocamera to see if the IR led is still functional is brilliant!   My RCX doesn't work!

I haven't used my RCX for a while, I found it doesn't work when I want to download firmware to it today. In fact, it is near non working! The RCX2 tools, nqc, lejos and WinNQC all can't find this RCX, but it can be found in 1% chance even if I put (...) (24 years ago, 23-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
