  RE: RCX Tower Internals

Kekoa wrote... (...) This might be a really simpleminded circuit. As far as I can tell there are a pair of 132's (simple HC logic chips) - one for each direction. Ah, in that case you will need my pbFORTH IDE and downloader, which is not on the drawing board yet, but just a wishlist: o filter out ddoouubbllee letters, use echo to check o fast download, skipping comments and compressing whitespace, macro (...)   Decoding the LEGO IR remote control

Hello All - - I'm interested in using a LEGO IR remote control to control other things besides the RCX. Has anyone here done any PIC development along these lines? I would like to use a PIC to decode the output of a Sharp GP1U581Y and convert the 16 (...) (25 years ago, 17-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) Hello Kekoa - - I apologize for not being able to make myself clear. I want to use the LEGO #9738 to control robots that use something other that the RCX for a controller. I envision a Sharp GP1U581Y IR receiver driving a PIC. The PIC will (...) (25 years ago, 18-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Listening to IR via NQC

(...) Cool, that'd be great. What I'm looking for is: nqc -listen and then all IR messages sent by the RCX via SendMessage would get dumped, one per line, in decimal, to stdout. Additional parameters could make the format be comma-delimited, (...) (25 years ago, 24-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

decoding a message sent by an RCX

hiya, I have been working on an idea to extend the number and type of devices that the RCX can control. I started with the idea of encoding serial data on one of the motor lines and decoding that in a PIC to do <stuff>. However, because working at (...) The RCX with take an RCX message and treat it as a message. The stuff from the remote is treated (...) (25 years ago, 17-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Woaw ! This could be great to have a full featured rcx expansion board... It should however be not too expensive, and in my opinion very basic to allow anything to be made. A "simple" (hehe :-) 8 bit Input / Output expander would be very, very nice. (...) (25 years ago, 4-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  RCX as a universal remote?

Here's a thought: You're in the bedroom with your trusty RCX on the floor. You're watching TV, but the tuner is in another room.
