Howdy, I purchased the RIS for the first time on Saturday, Yeah! When I pick up the RCX, out of the box, the green back cover fell away from the unit. I'm so happy to find that that is where the batteries go! But I'm seeing this kind of thing all (...) (25 years ago, 1-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) If you set the delay to zero, the RCX will not shut off. I don't remember if the RCX Code software can set such a delay, but I know for certain you can send an opcode to do it. Rob, Did you ever get any answers to this query? I also have three of the newer Technic motors that have seized. (Out of a collection of about 10 motors that's a 30% failure rate - not good!) Thanks Dean, where did you get your info - have you an inside source? Or would you have to kill me if you told me??? I was kind of hoping that the next RCX would be a bit smaller. hey i read that you can perform ir ranging with an rcx. how can i pull this off? please help. and has anyone tried building a laser diode that is mindstorms compatible? i tried it but i killed my laser. i figure you can do some cool stuff with the (...) Not exactly.... The output is an analog voltage, meaning it's not exactly a digital TTL 0 volts or 5 volts, but ranges from 200mv (call this low) to Vcc-200mv (call this high). But this is a PWM output, meaning that with the chip stationary with (...) (26 years ago, 16-Oct-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics)

From looking at the data sheets, it's going to be a bit more of a project than just "hooking it up". At a minimum you'll need to have a small micro to decode the dual PWM outputs, and they (AD) have a data sheet describing the use of a Parallax (...)
