If they MUST release a graphical programming environment, why not use the
standard -- UML -- (or at least a simplified subset), rather than reinventing
the wheel.  See Miro Samek's "Practical Statecharts in C/C++" for a lightweight
implementation (~5K) supporting UML's hierarchical statecharts.

They should release a graphical programming environment but it should tie
together with a real programming language like C, C++ or Java. I would love to
see a flow chart on one side of the window with corresponding code on the other.
This would allow young students who are just learning to make correlation
between the two.
