(...) My mistake. The RCX 1.0 has an AC adaptor jack which has a full-wave bridge rectifier to convert to DC and would provide AC protection. I guess RCX 2.0, without the external jack, does not have this. (17 years ago, 26-Aug-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) While your RCX is fried, it is probably not from plugging AC power into the power plug. LEGO's low voltage adaptor is an AC adaptor. Or did you mean you applied AC power to the RCX sensor port? (17 years ago, 26-Aug-07, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Hi Patrick, (...) that looks like a somewhat large diode to me. In my own picture it is round and is marked with a diode symbol and "A2". (...) It shouldn't he hard to replace. I use BrickOS (LegOS) but I'm not expert in the inner workings. The code you have here appears fine to me. So, it may be a bug in BrickOS, or a problem elsewhere in your code. I tried my own skill on writing a program for the included lego test pad (RIS 2.0), and I discovered something weird. You must be dealing with a different release of the battery pack than I am, since the only portion of the US instructions that mentions numbers states the output of the battery pack (10VAC, 7VA) and the approximate charge time (4 hours). One of my students accidently left a tied up gear train running for a while, i.e. In the midst of running a RCX, the case not only gets very hot, but also has a very strong plastic burning smell. (...) Whoops, I missed that there was a third option. I concur with this, as it's both the right voltage and confirmed AC.
