I am having a similar problem (see notes below) - R11 is burning on the serial/charger board. My HB had been on the shelf for a month or so, and it may have been left on AND I had made the motor-power hack (I tapped the center of the battery pack to (...)   LCD Connector?
 
Hello to ALL, I was wondering if the LCD connector could be used to connect a speech board from RC Systems. I've recently been implementing a PD controller on the HB for use in a line following robot, and have been having some problems with instability, especially around the zero point. We've encountered a problem with our Handyboard that we hope the list may be able to help solve. It all started with the "Normal/Zap" switch on the charger board, which was somewhat loose. We're planning to use the new Polaroid 6500 stuff on the Handyboard web page. We intend to use a six volt power source to drive our motors independently of the power source to the Handyboard itself (by cutting the appropriate trace on the board). (...) Thanks to David Kott for the addresses, the pdf file is a slightly updated version of the original so it will come in useful. I am writing to see if anybody knows of a suitable replacement for the ZTX614 transistor driving the IR transmittion circuit.
